Official Synopsis
Jarod attempts to prevent the Centre from turning a young boy into a new Pretender. Miss Parker searches for the identity of her twin brother.
In this continuation of the previous episode… Jarod telephones Sydney and informs him that Gar kidnapped Davy. Meanwhile, Miss Parker shows her father the surveillance footage of her mother, Catherine, giving birth to her twin brother. When Miss Parker exits her father’s office, she secretly takes with her Fenigor’s red files. As Sydney examines the files, Broots raises the possibility that Jarod is Miss Parker’s twin brother. Eventually the threesome determine that Fenigor transported the children to the Centre, with a stopover in Charleston, South Carolina. A barely conscious Fenigor reveals that more answers can be found in an eighth red file, hidden in sublevel 27. Meanwhile, at Angel Manor in South Carolina, Mr. Raines, Dewitt and Gar observe as Davy undergoes neuro-pathway stimulation.
Angelo’s memories of his abduction resurface. He recalls being transported to Angel Manor. Coupled with information from Sydney, Jarod makes his way to South Carolina and, with Angelo’s assistance, rescues Davy. Later, both Sydney and Jarod realize that the boy’s exposure to neural receptors is much the same process used on Angelo, only more technologically advanced. Jarod hopes that the same isotope treatment used on Angelo could be applied to Davy. Sydney tells Jarod he has less than three hours to synthesize the serum before Davy’s condition becomes irreversible.
Jarod uses NuGenesis equipment to create new serum. His work is interrupted by Gar and Dewitt. A struggle ensues, and during the confusion, the serum vial falls out of Jarod’s pocket and rolls towards nearby steps. Thomas intercedes, grabbing one of Gar’s guns. Jarod escapes, but Thomas is mortally wounded by Gar.
When Jarod arrives at the cottage, he is surprised by Miss Parker, who levels a gun at him. Jarod attempts to disarm Parker by referring to her as “sis.” He explains that, years earlier, the Centre ran tests on eight children. An anomaly in their blood predisposed them to have “the gift” which identified them as Pretender material. Miss Parker was the eighth child in the test. Jarod maintains he is not Miss Parker’s brother. He has narrowed the candidates down to two: Angelo and Mr. Lyle. He and Angelo convince Parker to allow them to inject Davy with the serum. Suddenly, Louis, the cottage owner, kicks down the door, shotgun in hand. He inadvertently dislodges the vial from Miss Parker’s hand, and it smashes onto the floor. Moments later, Louis apologizes for his action. Without the serum, Davy cannot be saved. In an act of self-sacrifice, Angelo insists that the boy be injected with his dosage. Jarod realizes it is the only way to save Davy, and reluctantly loads a syringe with the serum. Later, Angelo tells Miss Parker that a man in a dark suit shot and killed her mother, Catherine, years earlier. He believes Fenigor knows the identity of the killer. Shortly thereafter, Gar and Willie burst through the door, their guns drawn.
Gar, Willie and Miss Parker transport Jarod, Angelo and Davy to the airport at gun point. Angelo fakes a spasm, distracting Willie long enough to plunge a syringe into his leg. During the confusion, Jarod escorts Davy onto the awaiting plane and pushes the pilot down the steps. Gar glares at Miss Parker for her inaction and walks away as the plane taxis down the runway. Jarod brings Davy to the Brewsters, who were unable to conceive, and convinces them to adopt the boy.
Fed up with the Centre and its plan to create another Pretender, Sydney plants a high explosive in Sublevel 27. Meanwhile, Miss Parker makes her way to Fenigor’s room in the infirmary at the Centre. She is surprised by Jarod who, like herself, wishes to find out the truth about the past. Moments before drifting into unconsciousness, Fenigor identifies the man in the dark suit as “YYYYYY.” Parker, her nerves on end, draws her weapon and attempts to take Jarod into custody. But Jarod eludes capture, making his way through Sublevel 27. An alarm sounds, and Mr. Raines and Mr. Parker join Miss Parker, who has Jarod at gun point. Suddenly, Sydney and Broots appear, warning of the bomb. The device detonates, shooting a fireball down the corridor.

Jarod | Where is he? | |
Sydney | Who? | |
Jarod | The child. Prodigy.
Sydney | They must have set up a relay, a safe house before the boy arrives here.
Jarod | I’m not going to lose him Sydney.
Sydney | What are you going to do?
Jarod | I have doors of my own to open.
Mr Parker | How are you Angel? Sweetheart?
Miss Parker | Tell me about my brother.
Mr Parker | I thought we already dealt with that.
Miss Parker | He didn’t die at birth.
Mr Parker | What, what are you saying? What are you doing there?
DSA | ||
Catherine | What’s wrong with him? Tell me what’s wrong with him.
Raines | I’m sorry Catherine, your second child is stillborn. The male baby’s ready for transportation to NuGenesis.
Miss Parker | Daddy. Hey, you didn’t know about this.
Mr Parker | How, how can you even ask me that?
Miss Parker | Raines. | |
Mr Parker | I’ll take care of this. Are you all right?
Miss Parker | I will be once we find my brother.
Mr Parker | In a way, it’s a gift.
Miss Parker | A gift? | |
Mr Parker | I… i have a son.
Angelo | Sun feels good. Warm. Free.
Jarod | When I first escaped the Centre I used to take these long walks in the sunshine. I couldn’t breathe deep enough to fill my lungs.
Angelo | I remember when I was small before they locked me away under the world. I remember….
Jarod | What do you remember?
Angelo | Music. | |
Jarod | Angelo, do you remember anything about where you were taken, before they locked you under the world?
Angelo | Cant remember. Time for medicine.
Jarod | Two more treatments. Maybe this will help you to remember. We have to remember, for the boy.
Angelo | For they boy. | |
Broots | Nothing on the mainframe about a safe house?
Sydney | Mmm mnn. Fenigor’s red files.
Miss Parker | All seven. I found them in my father’s office.
Broots | You stole them from your… Mr Parker?
Miss Parker | Is that a problem?
Broots | Not for you. | |
Miss Parker | Fenigor said the answers are in these files.
Sydney | They’re designated by code numbers only.
Broots | Do you think one of these files could have something to do with Jarod?
Miss Parker | What are you getting at?
Broots | No one knows how old Jarod is. And if your twin was taken to NuGenesis, do you think maybe Jarod could be your brother?
Sydney | The answer’s at NuGenesis.
Raines | I wanna see the boy.
Gar | He’s upstairs sleeping. You can see him on the monitor.
Raines | Neuro-pathway stimulation in progress.
Dr DeWitt | And progressing smoothly.
Gar | Shouldn’t we get back to the Centre?
Dr DeWitt | He cant be moved yet.
Raines | This treatment is predicated on a strict timetable. By morning he’ll be ready for transport.
Davy | Where am I? | |
Broots | The 10-digit number? It’s under the expediter. They’re the same on all seven files.
Sydney | Try running them as an ID number.
Broots | Oh man. | |
Sydney | What is it? You were right Syd. The number is an identification code for the expediter who brought the children to the Centre.
Sydney | And? | |
Broots | And you’re not gonna believe who it is.
Sydney | Fenigor, Fenigor. Fenigor, wake up man. I need to know about Prodigy.
Fenigor | Red files. The children. Catherine, we couldn’t have saved them.
Sydney | I have to know where the children were taken before they were brought to SL 27.
Fenigor | Ch… Charleston.
Sydney | Charleston, South Carolina.
Fenigor | Blue box, inception.
Broots | Inception, that’s the room in SL 27. Are there more computer files there?
Fenigor | Answer red files. Eighth file.
Broots | Eighth file? Sydney, there’s only supposed to be seven files.
Jarod | That’s beautiful.
Angelo | People where I grew up played that when I was little.
Jarod | I need you to remember when you were taken. I know it’s hard. There’s a little boy out there in danger.
Angelo | Like I was? | |
Jarod | Just like you. | |
Flashback | ||
Angelo | There were men. | |
Jarod | Where did they take you?
Angelo | A house. | |
Flashback | ||
Angelo | A glass house. | |
Jarod | Tell me about this house.
Angelo | Big. Dark. | |
Jarod | What else do you see?
Flashback | ||
Angelo | A statue. | |
Flashback | ||
Jarod | What kind of statue?
Angelo | A lady. An angel. The sign said Angel Manor.
Jarod | Angel Manor. Thank you. Thank you. Yes.
Sydney | Charleston, South Carolina, that’s all I know.
Jarod | Thank you Sydney.
Raines | The first treatment is almost done.
Gar | What exactly are you doin’ to the boy?
Raines | Helping to prepare him for his future.
Gar | As what? | |
Raines | A Pretender. His bloodlines show the gift. I’m helping to focus his potential.
Gar | Like you did with Angelo?
Raines | Angelo was a mistake, trial and error. With the new technology, I’ll be able to focus the neuro-stimulation to the parts of his brain I want to hyper-develop.
Gar | Is that what you did to create Jarod?
Raines | No, Jarod was a natural Pretender. I’m merely trying to recreate him. What was that? Willie. Willie!
Willie | What is it? | |
Raines | Over there! | |
Gar | Angelo crawled into the storm drain.
Dr DeWitt | Get the generator on now. Mr Raines, the power’s out.
Raines | Get back to the boy now!
Raines | Jarod. | |
Jarod | How is he? | |
Angelo | They hurt him like they did me! Like they did me!
Jarod | Tell me how long he has. Basic motor skills have diminished and he’s been unresponsive to external stimuli for hours.
Sydney | What did you see that the Angel Manor?
Jarod | Neuro-receptors.
Sydney | That’s the very same process Raines used on Angelo.
Jarod | Well, there’s one ray of hope. Angelo’s treatment seems to have worked.
Sydney | He’s with you? | |
Jarod | Yes. And I’m hoping the same treatment can be used on Davy.
Sydney | It could. But Raines’ new process will be much harder to reverse, if possible at all. The brain is an unforgiving area Jarod. Time’s against you.
Jarod | So, you’re saying that if we don’t counteract Raines’ treatment, Davy’s degeneration could be irreversible.
Sydney | It will be. You have three hours or less to synthesise the new serum.
Jarod | I wont let them do it again.
Sydney | Jarod, there’s something else you should know. It’s about you, you and Miss Parker.
Broots | Do you think it’s true, that Jarod is Miss Parker’s brother?
Sydney | If Fenigor is right, the answers are in here.
Broots | Well, maybe we’ll find the blue boxes in the junk somewhere. Hello nurse. There it is Syd. I got it. You know this is one Rubik’s Cube I don’t know if I want to solve. Maybe if I don’t decrypt the information on it, I might even be able to sleep nights.
Broots | Syd. I found it. | |
Ed | How much longer? | |
Jarod | Ten minutes. Thank you for getting me in here.
Ed | Save it till I get you out.
Angelo | I know you can hear me. I’ve been where you are Davy. I’ve been you. Uh…. uh, um… Jarod’s going to make everything all right. Uh…. uh… Jarod’s gonna make it all right.
Ed | Are you sure this stuff’s gonna help that boy?
Jarod | If he gets it in time.
Ed | I cant believe I let this happen again.
Jarod | This isn’t your fault.
Ed | But you were Jarod. In all these years, I’ve been askin’ God for forgiveness.
Jarod | Well, I don’t know about God’s, but you have mine.
Louis | Hello, Oakview Lodge.
Jarod | It’s clear. | |
Ed | Come on. | |
Jarod | Thank you for giving me a little piece of my past.
Ed | And thank you for giving me peace of mind. Good luck.
Dr DeWitt | Where’s the boy?
Jarod | He’s safe. | |
Gar | Unlike you. Sorry. Get up.
Ed | Let him go. Go Jarod. | |
Jarod | You have no idea what you’re getting yourself into.
Ed | This is my chance to make it right. Go, for the boy.
Jarod | NO! | |
Gar | Damn it! | |
Broots | Oh man, all seven red files. Plus the eighth, just like Fenigor said.
Sydney | Does it say if they’re brother and sister?
Broots | Oh, you’re not gonna believe what it says.
Jarod | Angelo! Angelo! I’ve got it.
Miss Parker | It’s not the kid you need to worry about.
Jarod | Well, it’s good to see you again…. sis.
Miss Parker | How do you know I have a brother? You’ve got the red files too?
Jarod | Mr Fenigor was right about Prodigy, our bloodlines and the lies the Centre fed us.
Miss Parker | What are you saying? That you’re my….
Jarod | There were eight red files.
Miss Parker | Eight? | |
Jarod | Each of these files represents one of the children the Centre isolated as a potential Pretender. There were seven children your mother tried to save. But the secret to your past is in the eighth file. The eighth child.
Miss Parker | You’ve got my attention.
Jarod | NuGenesis monitored these eight children for the Centre. they screened them. You see, there’s a special anomaly in our blood in our genetics, that predisposes us with the gift.
Miss Parker | What is the big secret of number eight?
Jarod | Number eight is you.
Miss Parker | My blood was tested?
Jarod | Yours and your fraternal twin brother, who supposedly died at birth. Instead he was whisked off to NuGenesis. I’ve narrowed your brother’s identity down to these two files.
Miss Parker | One of those belong to you?
Jarod | No. I’m not your brother. But one of these files does belong to him.
Miss Parker | Him? | |
Jarod | And the other to a boy named Bobby. But you know him better as….. Mr Lyle.
Miss Parker | So you’re telling me that my brother is either a psychotic killer or Mush Head?
Jarod | It’s unmistakable.
Miss Parker | I need a drink. A big one. That him?
Jarod | His name is Davy. | |
Miss Parker | Raines’ new Pretender.
Jarod | As you can see, Raines already has a jump on it. Now, Davy’s only hope for recovery is this injection of serotonin. And if I don’t give it to him now, his condition becomes irreversible.
Miss Parker | No one’s doing anything until I figure out what the hell’s goin’ on.
Jarod | If you wanna shoot me, then go ahead and do it.
Miss Parker | False bravado, never cared for that in a man.
Angelo | Help us! Your mom, maybe my mom, died trying to save children like Davy. Do it for her.
Miss Parker | Do it. | |
Louis | I heard shots. You all right?
Jarod | Oh my God. | |
Miss Parker | What can we do?
Jarod | Nothing. It’s over.
Angelo | No it’s not. | |
Jarod | Angelo, that’s your last treatment. Without it you…
Angelo | He’s a boy. Let him be a boy. Please?
Broots | Sydney, this is more than I can take. Stolen kids, stillborn babies that aren’t. Miss Parker’s brother. I mean, reactivating SL 27.
Sydney | It’s my fault. I should have put a stop to this years ago.
Broots | Come on Syd, what could you have done?
Sydney | I could have tried. Catherine Parker tried. Fenigor tried.
Broots | Yes, and she’s dead and he soon will be.
Sydney | No deader than I’ll feel inside if I don’t try now.
Broots | Come on Syd, I mean what could you possibly do? Syd? Syd? Wait a minute.
Louis | Hey. That lady with the legs? She throws a wicked right hook.
Jarod | It’s difficult to distinguish between her bite and her bark.
Louis | I reckon so. Look at this. I found this stashed away in my parent’s belongings. It’s an early one of you. I remember your dad takin’ it. It was on a mornin’ just like today.
Jarod | Do you know if I was their child? Or if I was adopted?
Louis | No. I just know they loved you very much.
Davy | Where am I? | |
Jarod | You’re safe. | |
Davy | Aren’t you the substitute teacher?
Jarod | Yeah, yes I am. Yes I am. And you’re going to be home… soon.
Davy | I like this song. | |
Jarod | Me too. | |
Miss Parker | Is it possible?
Angelo | Maybe. | |
Miss Parker | I wish I could have known you, the real you.
Angelo | I wish I could have known the real you.
Miss Parker | Mom loved that song. She’d play it for me.
Angelo | Tell me… about her.
Miss Parker | Well… they say she looked…
Angelo | Just like you. | |
Miss Parker | Yeah. Her smile made me feel safe. Her compassion… I can only dream of duplicating. She loved to read to me, take long walks with me. She loved me, and I loved her. I miss her every day.
Angelo | Do you see her every day?
Miss Parker | I know you don’t have much time, but… do you remember something, anything that could tell me who killed her? Who killed Mom? I know it’s in there… somewhere.
Angelo | I saw… I… watched.
Flashback | ||
Catherine | No! | |
Angelo | A man. | |
Miss Parker | What man? | |
Catherine | No! | |
Miss Parker | What man? | |
Catherine | Leave me alone!
Angelo | The man in the dark suit.
Miss Parker | Who? | |
Angelo | I don’t know. Fenigor knows.
Miss Parker | Yes. Yes. But I hoped you did too.
Angelo | She played for you! I play for you.
Miss Parker | That was beautiful.
Raines | I want a 24 hour lockdown on all personnel for security checks and final test runs. No one in or out. Is that clear? Raines.
Gar | This is Gar. I’m at NuGenesis. I know where they are and who’s with them.
Raines | Then we’re back in business.
Sydney | In 12 hours, I’m putting you out of business.
Jarod | He’s okay to travel now. We have to move.
Miss Parker | I can’t let you leave Jarod, you know that.
Jarod | Is this what your mother would have done?
Gar | It’s time to go home.
Davy | Where are you taking me?
Jarod | It doesn’t have to be this way. New blood for the Centre. Your mother would be so proud of you.
Miss Parker | Save it! | |
Jarod | I saw your face when Angelo gave up his last treatment for Davy.
Miss Parker | Keep moving.
Gar | Let’s go. | |
Jarod | Angelo. Are you all right?
Miss Parker | What’s wrong with him?
Miss Parker | Get off of me! Jarod! Jarod!
Angelo | Save Davy. | |
Miss Parker | Angelo. | |
Gar | Guess your gun jammed huh?
Angelo | Davy free. | |
Miss Parker | Miss Parker still in hell.
Mr Brewster | We can’t accept this.
Jarod | Mr Brewster, creating a whole new life doesn’t come cheap. Believe me. That should cover everything that Davy, your new family is going to ever need. If you don’t want to do this, I’ll understand.
Mr Brewster | Well, if what you’ve told us is true Davy’s gonna need all the love he can get. Is that your family?
Jarod | It will be. Someday.
Sydney | His regression is complete and irreversible. I’m sorry.
Miss Parker | Will he remember anything?
Sydney | Well, he’ll remember all that’s important. Where are you going?
Miss Parker | Unfinished business.
Miss Parker | Mr Fenigor. Mr Fenigor.
Fenigor | Oh, Catherine.
Miss Parker | No, I’m her daughter.
Fenigor | Oh, oh. | |
Miss Parker | My mother… isn’t here.
Jarod | She is… in spirit.
Miss Parker | How’d you get back into the Centre?
Jarod | The same way I’m going to get out.
Miss Parker | If you get out. Why’d you come?
Jarod | I want to know who I am. And I’d rather die trying to find out that live not knowing. He’s slipping in and out. My parents, tell me about my parents.
Miss Parker | Who killed my mother?
Fenigor | The man in the dark suit. The man in the dark suit.
Miss Parker | Who is the man in the dark suit?
Fenigor | The man who killed your mother.
Miss Parker | Who is he? | |
Fenigor | Jarod’s father.
Miss Parker | Jarod! | |
Miss Parker | Ohhh! Oh! | |
Sydney | What’s that Broots?
Broots | It’s the security alarm. It’s in SL 27.
Sydney | Sl 27? There was to be no one down there.
Broots | Well, the surveillance camera says there is. It’s Jarod.
Willie | Mr Raines, security had just reported a breach in SL 27.
Raines | What kind of a breach?
Willie | Well, according to the surveillance, it’s Jarod.
Raines | Jarod’s back? | |
Miss Parker | Jarod! | |
Jarod | Looks like another dead end.
Miss Parker | I know all I need to know.
Jarod | Do you? After all the deceit and all the betrayal we’ve both experienced how do you know what the truth is?
Miss Parker | Fenigor had no reason to lie.
Jarod | Then you’re going to have to shoot me, because I’m going to find out the truth.
Raines | But we want you alive Jarod.
Mr Parker | I knew you had it in you Angel.
Sydney | Jarod! Jarod! Get out! There’s a bomb! Forgive me. |
