I think I just heard like 20 missing pieces fall in place. We don't know anything about Lyle's childhood between being taken from Catherine just after birth and framing his fake dad for murder when he was in high school. This makes sense, really terrible sense but it does.

💯 You're a wordsmith Mirage and a hell of a story teller. I read this slowly and savored it and made it an immersive experience. I can see Parker's hardly noticable reflexive recoil and Jarod's careful wording that way he will slowly say something and pause. This is my continuance choice ...this one or a tie between this, Nemesis, and Circles of hell. It's so plausible and so amazingly well written. Congratulations and thank you for sharing this.

I love that Jarod doesn't break or beat animals (human ones included) into submission. He doesn't try to take the wildness from them.

Lyle can't stop because Lyle is sick. It could be his mum's mental problems or the child abuse he suffered and being locked up in a shed as a child or all of those things that made him a monster. I don't know why Jarod didn't try to help Lyle like he helped Ethan and Kyle during the tv series.

I just want to add that you really captured Jarod and Lyle and their spirits, their humanity and characters...all of it, and you always do, but it was so much clearer in this story, even more so than in the past stories...but this IS a past story. I see now that this was the first thing you ever wrote of the pretender. Fascinating story Mirage and so brief. Jarod thinks he's just keeping a promise..I love that humility. He comes off as cocky I'm intrigued about the mention of the companion piece. I'd like to know at least if Lyle killed Miss Parker in the companion piece. Could you post it too? Please?

Because Jarod is a agent but acts like a doctor. It reminds me of when Michael T. Weiss was on Burn Notice and he's a total baddie but when Michael Weston gets pretend hurt he says, in classic Jarod, something like "maybe I can stop the bleeding" and I just loled all over myself.

Another dark story from Mirage. I still enjoy Wild Horses....I lost my breath when I learned it was Lyle kissing Jarod but in the context it's plausible because those two have danced around slash for a while and seemed like they were flirting more than fighting at times lol.

This one is even darker. You're a brave one, exploring the depths this way and what you came back with and shared with us is pretty freaking awesome Mirage. It's for sure a missing piece and you presented it like no other can. I want to read the rest. You always keep me coming back and you finish what you start. Thank you.

So many feels here. Miss P is the free defense attorney provided for him?!! Head=explodes. They go back and forth like they do on the series so many times and this is so reminiscent of so many arguments. The Centre for once couldn't get ahead of it by killing a dozen people and in this scenario that's plausible. He's already on the news. Does this mean Rachel will come into play? That can get messy, but a good mess. A catfight? I think Parker will win. Miss P is totally bad ass here and she's not wrong. The Centre has never wanted to kill Jarod. He has some value. I'm fascinated by this. I want more now. Make it so please.
