Title: Chapter 1: The Morning After

OH. OH! I've never read this one. How have I never read this one. I read somewhere in your review responses to other stories that you didn't like this ... why on earth not? It's fantastic. A new new to me something to read by you. Yah!

Title: Chapter 7: Two Steps Back

Miss Parker has all the balls in the world. You'll get nothing.. except a dead employee. I mean... damn baby girl!! I love this story. Why haven't I ever seen it before now.

Title: Chapter 8: Ticket to Ride

Ben and Parker extoling the quailities of minivans to soothe her ego beacause she used to mock minivans on the show. It's good to see her become more normal, nearly dying and losing everyone has humbled her. That's good. It makes her more likable. THis is definitely one of my favorite stories by you so far.

Title: Chapter 9: Home

Mirage slamming the brakes? That is so unlike you!! This is not the Mirage I know and love and blush while reading. You seem to be mostly testing the waters here and following the wishes of the reviewers which is nice but I do love how you've evolved and listen to the muses. I love that you ended by saying there was no interruption by an Ocee kind of person this time and leave it to our imagination but I also love how you leave not much to our imagination now. You do write PG but I do love your R rated stories. You're the best of both worlds. You could sequel this. Hint.

Title: Chapter 1: Stormfront

It's hard to admit this but I'm already a little scared. You really set the tone so we know something is coming. I've heard all about this and have read some of it but I'm going to try to be brave and read it all. It's so extremely well written and in character already. Your descriptive is... doh you should know all of this by now. You're a writer. You're really good, professional grade, Pretender caliber. The subject matter though bothers me a little bit. It's very dark and scary.

Title: Chapter 2: The Twilight Zone

Spectacular. Seriously. The first part really hammers home the extent of training and it seems so plausible and that makes everything else plausible. The suturing scene was surreal and so accurate. You graphically described it all and I can imagine Jarod sitting there doing that to her. Oh my god it's too much. But that's a compliment... that's how good you are. THe last line is just so classic Parker that I think everything might be ok but I already know it's not gonna be. I have a problem reading things that are so well written I start feeling like I'm there and what a scary place to be.

Title: Chapter 3: The Downward Spiral

so even here I'm thinking ok Jarod's sedating her but he must have a good reason and it's nothing bad. I am so wrong. I know I'm wrong because I checked ahead a few years ago. You bring all of the right elements to the table, including plausibility, and you're an awesome story teller. I'm wowed.

Title: Chapter 5: A Little Trust

I like that Parker is catching Jarod in a lie and filing it away and it's like she knows but probably wonders if it's the same Centre training supsicions she's always had. It's not an easy position. You navigate this situation well and really  go to some dark places that make the reader think. It's amazing. I'm going to absorb this so far and rest and come back.

Title: Chapter 6: Sleeping With The Enemy ?

"Nothing. I'm fine. I'm just-" She pushed her hands beneath the blankets. "I'm looki-"

"What," He asked, "What are you looking for?"

Oh, nothing, wonderboy, just my panties and woefully misplaced common sense.

And that says it all. So he didn't rape her, but I think ummm no actually he did rape her tho because the balance of power is all wrong here and she suspects something.

If she's too afraid to say no it's rape so this is why you caution people against this because this is rape and another thing is many people don't even understand that duress-consent isn't consent.

A person can say yes, can even scream yes but if they are doing it because a gun is at their head it's not consent. So I get it now. AT first read it's like ok she didn't really say no here so it's all cool and I was wondering why people think this is such a horrific story, but then I realized she also didn't say yes either. She didn't even say yes.

She didn't say anything. He didn't even ask. They didn't even discuss this. She said we're not going to do this like she already knew what he was going to do to her. He just raped her. I had to read this part 3 times to get what you did here. I'd say you're courageous for this but you'd be pissed off because no one should have to be courageous to tell the truth either in real life or in fiction am I right? You're amazing. I hope I can say that and not piss you off.

Title: Chapter 7: Hot Water

So much to examine here. She can't remember when she'd said the words middle of nowhere before. I've already read some of this and some later chapters trying to be brave so I know he drugged her. It's like reading it again I can see it so clearly. She can't remember stuff because he drugged her. She's confused because she's being drugged. Does she remember that he raped her. So many thoughts Mirage! This truly is a work of horror fiction, a plausible one where the woman doesn't get revenge at the end just like in real life. In real life rapists who even brag about raping women become presidents just ask donald trump.

In the water it's now obvious that she is frightened of Jarod and what he does to her in the tub, the implied going down that's oral rape. That's clear now like it never was before.

Then he gaslights her, makes her think she's crazy. If he wasn't a sociopath, if he hadn't stolen someone's kidney, it would be hard to believe this but he does seems to get off on terrorizing people and she was chasing him so she kind of fits the proflie you know? On some level he must have some resentments. This is all too plausible. It fits with Carthis, her strangeness, how small and vulnerable she was and how it seemed he was the viscious hunter and she was the prey. Then the tea and the hauntedness. How she just got a little cold and wet and lost it that easily. She was completely together and stoic after seeing her mother get shot and killed by Raines but this, she already knew the Centre did bad stuff. What happened in Carthis shouldn't have caused her to go out of character... unless she was drugged or something... like .... with tea.

Carthis was realy weird. LIke really really weird.

Wow wow. I have so many thoughts that I don't know how to voice or collect. I don't know how to put into words what I'm thinking so I'll leave it at that.

I like how Lyle tries to be hero but you make it plausible because he's kind of not doing it right but that's Lyle. He was more used to being bad.

Title: Chapter 8: What Lies Beneath

Ok so the visual on this the way you describe the hidden portal and its clever hidden opening. Jarod is really clever.

So she's begging now for him to kill her, because now she knows she's been drugged and would prefer death to that.. slavery in away. She'd rather die than be with him and lose herself, her identity, her freedom, to be blind to what he is. He seems close to getting away with everything. I can't blame her. She doesn't want to be complicit in any way in her own imprisonment with him but she isn't complicit at all. I know she doesn't know that right now. He did all of that to her and will try to make her feel responsible for it all because that's what violators like him do.  You really impressively paint the dark strokes of this horror. Don't worry I won't ask how you're able to dive so deeply into the mind of a victim. I feel you tho and I appreciate the painstaking work you've done to not glorify this, to not use what Jarod did as a vehicle to make us hate him so when Parker kills him we'll cheer or to have Parker run after him and want to be with him after he did this to her. All she wants to do after this happens is to gain  back control and try to be not like a victim and that's why she allows him back into her life later. I get it. I get it.

Title: Chapter 10: Clean Slate

Wow Parker keeping up a professional and graceful appearance to show everyone she's ok and I think with her pride and just the not wanting to talk about it and not wanting anyone to know this is fitting for her character and totally plausible. I like the tender moments with Sydney trying because he knows her so well. I don't blame Lyle for wanting revenge.

Title: Chapter 11: Freedom?

Oohh Oh. I almost feel sorry for Jarod. I know drugs were invovled and Raines orchestrated it all but  but but I can feel sorry that he was coerced into doing the stuff he's done, all the crimes he did, and still feel protective of Parker. He's still complicit. He decided to keep taking the drugs. He admits that he liked being able to cross lines and feel no remorse. I love that Parker regains power and doesn't let him keep her there. She just puts the car in reverse and leaves. I'm glad.

Title: Chapter 12: Running In Circles

Oh oh!! The way Jarod is talking to Sydney on the phone while entering the hospital is just so super awesome. I always feel like I'm watching what you've written instead of reading and I love it. You are amazing.

Parker shoothing the phone. She would. I love it.

I'm going to rest and absorb everything and come back again soon to read. I need to get my thoughts in order.

Title: Chapter 28: The Dance We Do

I am kind of babbilng incoherently right now.

It's plausible and so so so so surreal. Thing is it's Jarod and so yeah that makes it even more plausible because he can be CCCrazzzzzzzy. He overexagerrattes so much too and so you show us that but in a way that is so horrifying. His "scared the hell out of you didn't I?" really hammered that home. He knows what he's doing, the acting, and on the series that was all Michael. Michael the actor behind Jarod seems to be really dramatic or .. there's a word for it but my mind is so focused on election results and I'm so drunk right now waiting to hear the best news that Biden wins.... I can't think of the word.. but Michael the actor is really gesture-yyy--ish and sometimes he would get ... when he's Jarod... he would be like SO enraged in character that I swear I see a hint of a smile or just maybe it's madness. AnyWAY you translate him and the gestures and body language and the everything that makes Jarod Jarod yeah you do it so enormously well and ....do you study the man or something? It's horrific and beautiful. You scare me.

Title: Chapter 29: None so blind

So Jarod's mom coming in to the rescue to actually assign blame to her son is something I didn't expect but after her own problems with her husband she might be more empathetic to another woman that has to deal with her husbands son. She knows they are all human.

Oh ohh ohhhh Mirage.

Title: Chapter 30: When It All Unravels

The #  8. Jarod's favorite #. I LOVE what you did there and that you keep the continuity because to me in a series the continuity is vital and you always give us a little gift from the series to let us know that yep this is our series!! I love you so much. This is where I'm like yep those pills way back in the earlier chapter were ineffective because Jarod switchedarooed them. I misssed that completely the first time I read this.

REALLY SUPER tense there Mirage. I'm over here squirming and cringing on Parker's behalf. Her "peachy" used to try to cover up what she really felt. The trying to lie to him and say she didn't love him. OMG! "and not fair is Jarod's line"... so TRUE.

His reply and that kiss ... so tender and sweet. He's such a pretender!!!
