Title: Chapter 3

Omfg! Please let Jarod have implanted Parker. Wow. I know we talked about that and you were like, "implausible" but come ON! Please. I know Broots is desperate. Poor baby. I love that the rifle was a bluff by Sydney to see Jarod's reaction. Shrink is gonna shrink am I right? He had to know, needed his insights into Jarod's psyche. "blah blah" Broots is right. Broots nailed it all.

The syringe! I was wondering why they'd be going after MP with a syringe of all things. Broots knows all about Jarod's affinity for needles!! OMFG! They played Jarod. H@ll yeahhhs! They are tracking the syringe. Broots knew Jarod would want it. Makes sense.

The characters are... the characters, so in character. Broots and Sydney are real enough to touch. You really do justice to all of the characters. Oh, snap, I love Sam, too. He's a sweetheart in real life, too and he's Sam in real life too.

Oh, so exciting and fast paced, and yeah, Jarod could have even chipped her titanium plate when she was injured in Texas. She wouldn't know. A second signal could mean anything so I won't jump to conclusions. You did mention that he has security features on his properties and I wonder if Broots picked them up. SO excited to learn more. I need it now.

...oooh that contrast...when Borots didn't want to catch Jarod and celebrated when he succeeded in keeping his freedom vs now when he's hopeless and angry because he can't find Jarod .. 😭

They have found them, I think. I'mexcited for more.

And I love the playful vibes and comaraderie between these two old friends. Amazing.

Hey hey it's Michael's biggest fan again. I'm looking for one of your fucs. Jarod was dark and chasing Parker and he was bringing women in to some place to audition..and the women were all refugees or something but he was looking for one who looked like Parker, he was Trying to find a stand in for her because he couldn't have her ..but the women all thought they were there for large movie roles and freedom and a lot of money and fame . ..it reminds me of Epstein and Trump scamming and trafficking and raping but your story was Before that news broke so publicly and became widely known and now your fic has disappeared? I think it was called 'devil's advocate'  and Jarod was also using drugs. He didn't actually rape anyone in the story but the similarities tho..they got me thinking ..

Please let me know if there's a conspiracy and please update this and all your stories I love them thank you

That "fuc's" disappearance is no conspiracy. Like you, I began to notice that reality was beginning to resemble my fuc. It bothered me. A lot.
 
At my most enraged, I felt compelled to eradicate er— something (yeah, something, let's go with that) from the planet, and deleting a scribbling is legal.
 
It wasn't the most attractive option, and it resolved nothing. I don't feel better either. 

But it was legal.

I'm Michael's biggest and bestest fan and I hear and see him as Jarod when you write Jarod and I need that and ALOTT more of that.

 

If you ever have questions about Michael you can ask me 😉 😜 I know everything about him and his bio and birth date snd everything. I'm the encyclopedia! He is actually not a shrink.. ask me and I will private message you about who is a psychologist in his family.

Thank you for the offer, but, no, I love a mystery, and in the spirit of maintaining the mystery I refuse to ask any questions about him. I think boundaries are important. Shrink? No. I'm not asking. Mm, I've been away for a little while. Evidently. I must have missed something.

 

I had to look up that other person you spoke of (gratitude to reddit). It seems you might be referring to someone that everyone is now calling "supperman" (this is all that I will ever know about supperman; he's just going to be remembered as that "suPPerman guy" if he's remembered by someone) which is-- exactly what suPPerman wanted, right, because he doesn't like social awareness or things like decency and empathy--


Anyway. It's clear and breezy here, and scorching hot, and not humid at all. And that's nice. Tis far better to sizzle than to steam.

Ah, right, I do call myself mirage here; I was obsessed with optical phenomena when I was a child, and sort of felt largely illusionary, etc. etc.
It became an entire theme. It seemed appropriate to call myself that while I'm here because-- reasons.



Oh. Wow. Ocean and-- well, wow, that's fucking awesome. All. Of. That. Is. Awesome. That is so awesome. I don't know if any of it's really true, and it isn't any of my business. I won't seek confirmation. Boundaries, etc. But do me a favor and leave me with the belief that it's all true, and never tell me any differently. 

I do have love for our entire fandomly, I love our fandomly.

Ah, the quite-literal-ear wiggling thing. Yes, that was my mistake, and I own it. I should have known that he had a whole other skillset, but I didn't, because I'm ignorant (ignorance is my true talent).

Also, there are quite a few fans who have truly imaginative euphemistic (and euphemistic emoji-porn-tastic) tendencies, and I can asssure you that never before has "ear wiggling" ever meant that he can wiggle his ears, nope, not while eggplant, peach, and kissing emojis were included in the sentence. 

Also, I've never seen him do it, and I don't know anyone who has personally witnessed him doing it (I'm not issuing a challenge).

Anyway, yes, I naturally assumed, incorrectly, that it was more of the same word mincing that I've grown accustomed to over the years-- if, in fact, I was incorrect.

So many questions. Yeah, of course, we all want our fandomly to be healthy and happy. I certainly hope he is.

You have quite an imagination. He's fandomly, and I always respond to fandomly.

In fact, I've already responded to hundreds of pretenders who use that same name, all spelled out, down to the T, which, by the way, is how I discovered what his middle name is.

 I'll never believe that any of them are the genuine Michael, but, sure, I respond. I respond to every email, so, yes, the answer is yes.

Don't worry so much. It isn't healthy.

You just blow my mind with this. I need more. Ooh, Bring me the DARK JAROD!

he's always dark, I know, and I know that YOU know. When I first became a TP fan I was thinking Jarod was good and just and never did a thing wrong and then I read some of your replies to reviewers and I disagreed with you at first. But someone was going on about how Jarod "wouldn't violate anyone's autonomy EVER Ever ever" and I think they called you the c word, "c ra zy" and you just replied to them, "Luther Ecksley would like a word." And thanked them for reading and reviewing and I was like oh sh!t. You talked about Jarod's masks and what lurks behind and you were right about everything. You saw the dark. I didn't see his dark at all at first. It became subtle for a while but after re watching TP  it is so obvious to me now that he is dark. I see now what you saw from the beginning. He has reasons.. but yeah, that doesn't change that he's dark and does things and it wouldn't hold up in court that he couldn't help but do some bad stuff because of the bad stuff that was done to him.

I love the dark. I love that you seem comfortable writing about it. It really all comes natural for you, or seems so. I want more as soon as possible. Please. Thank you for continuing. It means so much. I'm a hardcore fan from the beginning. I never want the fandom to die.

Omfg I can't wait to see what happens next!

I'm still surprised and stoked that you are finally writing a FON sequel. I know what a wild ride that one was and now I'm all buckled in and wearing a safety helmet ready for this.

Knowing that Parker has been drugged and brainwashed and is a prisoner changes the tone of her behavior completely. If I hadn't read FON I'd be like yeah they are in love and normal and being intimate like all married people but ughhhhh hhh huh hmm it's all a lie that Jarod has created. It's Jarod. He can do anything. He could easily do this.

 

The darker parts that you explore are necessary and I appreciate you. You're fearless for deep diving and showing us what some humans do.

I'm so excited and eager for more.

Oomph! Please type as quickly as your little fingers can, please. I've been waiting so long for this. The writing and story telling is out of this freaking world!

"Jarod watched Parker swim laps beneath a darkening sky, and watched, too, their harrowing pool encounter back in the states, miles and decades earlier, on the reel of memory. These were in stark juxtaposition in Jarod's mind: one blue eye filled with terror, the other reflecting contentment.

Jarod had, he believed, been merciful; he'd spared Parker the crippling weight of the burden of memory. He remained confident that there was no alternative, and that Sydney was wrong.

"Going to watch all night or join me?" Parker asked.
"Oh," Jarod purred, rising from the lounger and descending the steps, "I think I can manage both." He observed Parker's inviting smile, and pushed Broots and Sydney from his mind.
His pursuers had enjoyed a single, final stroke of luck, and nothing more. Jarod imagined the men were back in the states, lamenting the cold trail and their humiliating defeat. 

Jarod believed he wouldn't be seeing either men again, and that's precisely what they wanted Jarod to believe."

 

Jarod's purring, his confidence, Parker's voice. I can hear and see and feel it all. Ooh. Chills. Like OLD times. Like watching an episode. You are so in sync with the series and characters. Perfecto!

Scarily plausible. You really know how to craft a seamless story, build tension, maintain the characterisations, and all the rest of the attributes and qualities of an phenomenal author. Perfect. Pretender perfect. Manipulation and dishonesty has always come natural to Jarod. At the end of each episode he was like, "I lied, I'm not even in the army" or "I'm not really surgeon, and so on" He has lied his way into people's lives and deceived and maybe for the right reasons, it can be argued. That's not the point tho. The point is he can do it and he does it easily and he believes he's always just and he will always justify his reasons. That means this too is plausible and that he can just as easily justify ill intent and can just as easily lie and deceive for ill intent. You're on the really very few authors or fans who will acknowledge Jarod's darkness. He has it. He was going to kill a man with his bare hands but kept seeing his mom's face and couldn't do it but he's capable and pushed a little bit further could easily do it. He violated Luther Ecksely's autonomy by stealing a kidney. Even if Luther had consented, Luther obviously changed his mind and said no but Jarod didn't stop. It was really a rape kind of. It was shocking. Jarod goes too far.I love that you explore the darkness too. You're not afraid to do it or of what reviewers will say. You do it brilliantlly too. Thank you and Congratulations on this second chapter. Bravo!

Magnificent. I love your approach to informing the reader in a way that doesn't overpower or drown out the story itself. This chapter provides enough detail that I begin to understand how Jarod has successfully kept himself and Parker safe in public. You're concise and clarify before I can even ask, like you anticipate my questions while writing and answer it. You know me the reader well. Money and disguises along with the fact that they are out in public can go a long way in shutting down anyone who might think they recognize the couple. Powerful writing. You have a powerful voice. Thank you for lending it to this fandom. I love The Pretender and I can tell that you do too.
