Magnifico! This truce-mutual surrender is bittersweet.
I foresee a happier time for them, and that this loss will bring them closer.
Parker truly has reached the crossroads of life, a turning point, a peripeteia,
sudden change. From chasing Jarod, pointing a gun at Jarod, avoiding Jarod,
planning to rescue her baby brother, running from Jarod for a second there in chapter 1,
to now lying in bed with Jarod (she's under the covers and he is not) to now planning to
raze the Centre with Jarod. I have high hopes for a happy ending that began in the
dark and agonized depths of deep numbing grief.
Thank you for writing and pumping new blood into this series. You authors are life support.

Well, well, well, what do we have here, young lady? Jarod is finally growing on you isn't he? I believe he is. I've said that before. I'm teasing you. I know you write him likeable and that you write him hateable. It's clear that Jarod and Parker love each other in this. He doesn't find there on scene and asks "what have you done?" He was going to ask if she was all right but caught himself and asked "Are you hurt?' Clearly she wasn't all right. People who are all right wouldn't be experiencing unexpected shock. The cover up was an act of love. He's an accomplice, but his motives were love.
Jarod did tell Parker that sometimes the things that scare you the most can be the things that save your life.. he had that little corn thing in his hand at the time but I think he was talking about her and him, and that he could save her life.
All in all it's a beautiful love story beautifully written. I've already read chapter two so I can that with certainty. *winks*

I was surprised by this second chapter. You slowly unraveled this. The reader is essentially unwrapping a gift. A christmas gift.
A surprise christmas gift. From you Mirage? To ME? Why thank you. I accept.
I didn't expect those last two paragraphs specifically. The gorgeous reveal. You do the characters enromous justice and credit, and the television series.

I wasn't expecting this so soon after your conclusion of the Unforseen series . I wasn't expecting a dark Jarod return after so many happier normal Jarod stories.
I just accused you of warming up to Jarod and now you do this?
Mirage you are not easy to figure out.
I find this intriguing and action packed, well written. You check all of the boxes as always.
I'm stunned by the dark direction again.
I'm It's reasonable that Jarod wouldn't want to delay anything by saving the child. It was all a set up it seems. A trap. Smart to do that, use Jarod's flaw to catch him. It seems he no longer has that flaw
Sydney is such a scientist. Staring, astonished. So very Sydney.

Magnificent. I love your approach to informing the reader in a way that doesn't overpower or drown out the story itself. This chapter provides enough detail that I begin to understand how Jarod has successfully kept himself and Parker safe in public. You're concise and clarify before I can even ask, like you anticipate my questions while writing and answer it. You know me the reader well. Money and disguises along with the fact that they are out in public can go a long way in shutting down anyone who might think they recognize the couple. Powerful writing. You have a powerful voice. Thank you for lending it to this fandom. I love The Pretender and I can tell that you do too.

Bravo! Outstanding work. I've come to expect this quality from you, and excitement. Broots must be beside himself, and might even be wishing he'd caught Jarod for the Centre at the beginning, and avoided all that's happened.
Sydney shines too here. He still wants to protect Jarod, still has those paternal feelings.
I wouldn't mind a scifi twist with Jarod having implanted a tracker inside of Parker. I loved it when they did that on Nikita, the new Nikita, tracking them everywhere and with an option to kill them remotely. It's cool.
Do what you will. Know that I will read it all.
