Author’s Notes: I am clearly insane and joined fanfic100step7 v3.2 xp over at LiveJournal. Essentially, I have to write 100 stories about my chosen topic. In this instance, it’s Mr. Lyle. This is the first one for prompt #51: Water.
Summary: He’s always been afraid.
Cold Water

It swarms around him, and he can feel it compressing his very being. He feels the panic begin to rise as it swells to a crescendo, sending shockwaves through his body just as his body sends shockwaves through it.
He’s always been afraid.
Afraid of his father, afraid of himself, afraid of failing, afraid.
It surrounds him, pulling him down. He fears it, the sudden loss of control. He has discovered that only through loss can anything be found.
Loss of a friend, loss of a family, loss of a self.
Everything was found.
He’s still afraid.
It consumes him, but he fights against it. He regains control.
Through this all control will be won.
