When they stopped telling him that he was doing ‘great work’ they started telling him that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.
“You have power,” said one.
“So much power,” replied another.
“Here you are safe. Here you cannot harm others. You don’t want to harm others, do you? You want to use your gift…”
He confessed he didn’t want to harm others. He wanted to help them. He understood he had power. He really did. Escape didn’t cross his mind.
