The flannel shirt clutched to her chest, tears were rolling down her cheeks, only to be seeped up by the fabric and dampen it. She didn’t notice. Instead, she was trapped in the memories; memories of their time.

For once she had allowed herself to get attached and she had paid for it - worse, he had paid as well.

The bed dipped behind her and she felt a small hand on her shoulder.

“It’s gonna be alright. He’s ok,” another ghost from her past whispered.

The serenity in the girl’s voice and the glow radiating from her made it impossible not to believe - for tonight.
