“So you are Jarod’s father?”
“Yes,” the man piloting the plane looked at the boy. “I’m Charles. I’m also your father.”
The boy nodded. “That cut needs to be tended,” he pointed at the wound on the Major’s forehead.
“It will heal without treatment. We can’t go to a doctor.”
“We don’t have to, I can do it.”
“But you are…,” the Major started and then remembered who Jarod, and therefore the boy next to him, was, “of course you can.” He sighed and wondered how it would have been, had everything gone differently.
