1988 The Centre

Blue Cove, Delaware

The door opened a middle-aged man wearing a black suit and a white lab coat enters the corridor. The corridor has no windows and is completely white with one light in the middle. The light slowly swings left from right. The noise of his steps echoes as he walks down the long corridor. A bead of sweat runs down his forehead and then falls from his chin hitting the floor with a soft splash. He reaches the end of the corridor to approach a sealed steel door. The man reached in to his lab coat pocket to retrieve a small piece of plastic the size of a credit card. He lifts his hand and swipes the card down the side of the door. It opens to reveal another corridor with lights all along he roof, cells lined the sides with doors much like the one he had just opened. He walks towards the only door in that corridor to be guarded by fully armed men in black suits. The man approaches the door with caution a wave of fear crosses his face. To open this door his fingerprints are needed to allow access to only certain people him being one of then. A green light above to door flashed "ACCESS GRANTED" the door swung open. The man cautiously enters the room. The room was completely dark except for a single beam of moonlight that filters through the bared window of the room. After a while the man finally spoke " Ii, it's ti, time for ar, your needle". It seems the man is talking to no one.

Then a voice from the corner of the room "Joey my boy, Have I ever told you I HATE NEDDLES" the voice sounded like one that of a grown man. The man in the lab coat flew back hitting the wall and fell to the floor. The man didn’t get up -he just lay there. From the corner of the room a human figure got up and moved into the beam of moonlight that lit up the face of a boy maybe 7, 8.

Out in the corridor the guards still stood at attention. The door of the cell they are guarding flies off and across the corridor, right of ist hinges without an explosion. The two men that guarded the door both look into the cell with unusual expressions on their faces to be comforted by the boy swinging down and knocking them both to the ground. The boy got up and stood at the other side of the corridor and leant up against the wall. The guns that the guards had been holding flew out of their holsters to land in the hands of the boy. He raises the guns one on each guard. His fingers tighten around the guns the boy squints his eyes closed tight.

The guns let out a stream of electricity into the bodies belonging to the guards putting them into shock. The boy also fires down each direction of the corridor, which is now filling with more guards. The boy doesn’t seem to notice all the guards and proceeds to walk down the corridor. The light globes that light the corridor one by one explodes as the young man passes them. At the end of the corridor there is a T section. The young man keeps walking forward until his nose almost touches the wall he closes his eyes tight and the wall explodes out he continues to walk into the night. The boy begins to run into an empty field. He keeps running until he reaches the end to come face to face with his greatest fear- his father. He turns to run the other way, he’s surrounded. The young man collapsed to his knees and places his head between his knees and begins to weep. "Drew, you can’t escape. I won't let you" The young man's father addresses him. It starts to rain a crash of thunder made the boy shudder. The boy raises his head the rain hides the tear that rolls down his cheek and his eyes blood shot and all he can say is ‘Why’ as his father raises the same gun he had used on the guards and fires at his. The boy lets off a scream as another tear falls from his eye.

Ten years pass. The boy now lays on a metal trolley the type you find in a morgue, but the boy is no longer a boy but a young man. The room is completely empty except for some wires that run from the young man into a hole in the wall that lead to a control room; In the control room there are 3 men in white coats working franticly, only one man stood in one place he was looking into the viewing glass, he whispers the words

"I’m sorry Drew I’m sorry". He turns to leave when one of the men in white coats approaches him "He’s waking up Sir". "Let me in" he yells at the man in the white coat, "Yes Sir" He replies. The man enters the room he approaches the young man. The young man's eyes open he gets up and ends sitting on the side of the trolley to come face to face with the man he now hates for putting him in this position-his father. The young man looks to the floor "Look at me" his father demands. The young man replies the only way he see fit with these words of wisdom "Fu** You".

His father replies with a slap across his face. "Take him away" Drews father tells the guards who now stood in the room. They grabbed the young man and took him out of the room. The young man now fully dressed in a white T-shirt and jeans with black shoes on. He is taken to a room with his father in it.

"No hard feeling eh’ Drew?" Drew's father broke the silence. Drew just stood there not moving. "You do realize you were an accident" His father told him.

Drew's eyes closed. Drew breathed in deep his eyes opened again. "You Fu**in’ bastard" Drew raised his fist to come and strike his father on the side of his face. His father got up blood trickled down from his mouth.

"I’m the only reason you’re still alive," his father yelled at him. Drew’s father walked up to the only window now his true identity was revealed in the reflection of non other than Mr. Lyle.

Drew turned his head away from his father for only one second to come crashing down to the ground and have his father standing over him with the handle of a gun hanging out of his hand. Drew came to in a cell with only a bed in it. Mr. Lyle along with Mr. Raines enter the cell. Drew sits up back against the wall looking at the men who have just entered. Drew is taken out of the room down many corridors into a room with only a single chair in it drew was throw into the room and was left there. They had kept this a secret from everyone, how would they react with this.

Broots came running into Sydney office, after he caught his breath he told Sydney the news of a new prodigy. "Ten years, Ten years how, why?"

Sydney questioned. "Ahh I shouldn’t know this, but he’s been in a coma for ten years, they’ve been feeding him information," Broots paused "You know how people can hear while their in comas and remember stuff." Broots told Sydney. Sydney was upset at this news that he was not informed ten years ago, but Miss Parker was aggravated to have found out from Broots.

Miss Parker went to have a word with her father about this. " Why wasn’t I informed earlier!’ Miss Parker informed her father.

"I didn’t think it necessary" Mr. Parker told his daughter. Miss. Parker stormed out of her father's office. Broots Sydney and Miss. Parker entered the room in which Drew was. Drew looked up from the floor where he sat sweat ran down his well-muscled body. He was asked to stand up Drew almost stood 6’2" tall. Drew sat in the chair that was in the room. Sydney was the first to speak

" I’m Sydney" Sydney put his hand out in gesture for a handshake. Drew just sat there and said nothing. Sydney pulled his hand in and swiftly placed it in his pocket.

"I haven’t got time for this shit," Miss Parker said angrily. Drew finally spoke as the three of them went to leave the room "Fu** you got PMT or something, gee?". You could see Broots have a little giggle on the inside. Miss. Parker stopped in her tracks for about three seconds then continued to walk out the room. The corner of Drew’s mouth smirked in satisfaction.

1998 Randy's Motor Inn

Some where in Dallas

Jarod picked up the roadrunner Pez dispenser that sat on the table next to his laptop. Jarod pulls back the lid and let the Pez fall into his mouth. Jarod gives of a smile of satisfaction. Jarod was about to have some more Pez when his laptop beeped. The beeping meant he had mail. Jarod picked up a char and swung it around he sat down and rested his arms on the back of the chair he next rested his chin on his arms at the table. He began to type; all that was written on the E-mail was the word "PRODIGY". Jarod thought to himself what does this mean ‘I saved the young boy’. Jarod had to find out. Jarod got working he hacked into the Centre's main frame. Jarod popped another Pez in to his mouth as he began to search the files.

After an hour Jarod let off a "Bingo". Jarod had found the file he needed. "Aren’t you a handsome devil, who are you" Jarod asked the file as he opened it. The file had not been updated for ten years. It simply read that his name was Drew and he was that he had the right DNA for the prodigy. As soon as Jarod finished reading the file he got up from where he sat and headed to the door. The midday sun hit him in the face Jarod squinted his eyes as he put his sunglasses on.

"Jarod, have you seen Lilly" an old man approached Jarod.

"I saw her by the pool" Jarod answered the man's question.

Jarod continued to walk to the car that was parked at the other side of the Motor Inn. The car door open Jarod got in. He turned the keys to hear the engine roar, his foot lowered down on the accelerator to go screaming backward out of the car park.

1998 The Centre

Blue Cove, Delaware

About two days later Jarod pulls up at an empty field with concrete well like thing in the middle. The way he got out and knows the way he will get in. ‘Here we go again’ Jarod thought to himself

In the center Drew just sat in the corner of the cell on his bed. Drew had just had his first simulation. Drew thinks to himself ‘Ever since then, I can't even bring myself to say it. Ash I’m sorry I should of done something’.

A tear rolled down Drew’s cheek. He almost began to cry, but he wouldn’t let him self. Drew slide down onto the bed and closed his eyes, he just laid there for a while and the rolled to his side.

Drew opened his eyes to see someone in the corner of the room. "Who’s there" Drew got away from where he lay. The person who was in his room spoke

"They said you were 8". "Yeah, ten years ago!" Drew said with a smirk on his face. "I’ve come to help you escape" the man spoke
again.

"Is this like a test or somthin'? Like to see if I'll do it" Drew asked the person who stood in his cell. The person in Drew’s cell slowly moved so Drew could see him. "No, I’m serious" the man was clear to see now it was Jarod. Jarod told Drew that they had to go now, Drew has nothing to lose

‘What the hell’ Drew thought and he followed Jarod in to the maze of ceiling ducts that went throughout the Centre.

"What do you mean ESCAPED?" Mr. Lyle was pissed off, he was yelling at 2 guards who were supposed to be guarding. Miss.Parker, Sydney and Broots walk past this argument to the cell in which house Drew.

Miss. Parker was the first to enter the room; She scanned the room something on the bed interested as she got close she knew what it was. "JAROD" Miss. Parker threw the object at the wall and the walked out pushing through Sydney and Broots. Broots bent down and picked up what looked like a headless Pez dispenser and next to it a head of woody the woodpecker.

1998 Back at Randy's Motor Inn

Some where in Dallas

Drew awoke in the back of a car. Sun streams in thorough the windows, the sun hurts Drews eyes. He puts his hand up to block out the sun that hit his face. Drew slowly got up from were he lay. He opened the door and got out, he looked from left to right with no warning he began to run for the exit. Drew almost reaches the exit and he has a swift look behind him to turn around and knock into Jarod. "Where you going to go?" Jarod asks Drew.

"Just away" Drew says as he gets up and begins to walk away. Jarod reaches out his arm and puts his hand on Drew’s chest making Drew stop in his tracks. "Wait, they’ll come after you," Jarod pauses "Listen, I’ve been out for two years and they haven’t caught me yet, what do you say?"

It took Drew a while to say something and when he did it came out like a whisper "Ok, I guess so, its better than going back". After hearing these words Jarod smiled and offered Drew a Pez. Drew smiles and took one out of Batman’s head and put it in his mouth.

"So, What’s your name kid?" Jarod asked his new companion.

"Andrew, just call me Drew" Drew happily told Jarod. They both went into Jarod's motel room. Drew found a seat on Jarod's bed.

"Tell me about your self" Jarod asked Drew as he opened the fridge and got out two cans of coke. Jarod chucks one to Drew. Drew hesitates to tell Jarod of his past but something tells him that he must tell someone the truth. Drew begins to tell Jarod

"It was early 1988, Ash was driving home from a baseball game, I had made a homer that day. Ash was 18 even thou I wasn’t his real brother, he still treated me like one. It was dusk and Ash had just turned the car lights on. We were talking about baseball and stuff when the car stopped. It was the first time I had heard Ash swear "Shit" it was."

Drew gave off a little laugh then went on telling his story. "Ash was just about to have a look when the car started up again. ‘You ok Andy’ Ash always called me Andy even thou everyone else called me drew. We set off again; it was half an hour to the Kingston’s. Next what happened I don’t even understand myself, but I’ll tell you anyway. Something tells me I can trust you."

A tear began to run down Drew’s cheek as he went on. "A light, bright. It lit up the windshield. Ash turned the wheel and put the brakes on. The car began to spin then it happened. The car hit a tree on Ash’s side. Looked over his eyes were wide open blood was running down his face. He was dead.

I scrambled out of the car. I screamed for help, no one came then the light it came back. That’s all I remember, but my father I see his face in the light. I first met him a year before this so-called accident. He wanted to take me with him, they wouldn’t let him. He kept coming back every week."

Drew finished his story; Jarod just sat there astonished at his story."Ever since I can do things I couldn’t before, I just have to think of it and it would happen" Drew added to his story.

"Like!" Jarod asked finishing his can. Drew closed his eyes "Watch the can" Drew told Jarod. Jarod looked at the can, it began to rise into mid air then dropped.

"That was amazing" Jarod looked at Drew amazed.

Outside the room a screeching car drove into the car park. Mr. Lyle gets out along with three goons. They all approach the room that Jarod and Drew are in. Inside they hear them coming. "We have to go" Jarod yells to Drew in the bathroom. Drew runs out dressed in a white shirt, black pants.

"I thought you never get caught?" Drew yelled at Jarod.

"Well not yet, and I have no intent to either" Jarod reassured Drew. Drew was just about to jump out the window when Mr. Lyle and the Goons entered the room.

" Drew don’t make me shoot" Mr. Lyle yelled in Drews direction.

"Like you Fu**in’ won’t" Drew jumped out the window and ran to the car in which Jarod was in.

"You had the chance why not take him?" Mr. Lyle turned around to see Miss Parker in the door way. "I don’t have to explain myself" Mr. Lyle stormed out the room.

"This crash was no accident, and were going to find out why this man was killed."

"You're crazy, like what can we do!" "A lot". Drew shook his head and smirked at Jarod. "So why are you bringin’ me along for."

"I could use some help."

"Yeah a sidekick"

The door to Commander Marshals Office opened and a woman and two men entered. The Commander looks up from his newspaper. The front-page read ‘Corrupt Pilot jailed for life after the murder of Captain Jones’.

"Where’s Jarod?" the woman was clearly Miss. Parker and the two men Sydney and Broots.

"Don’t you mean Captain Pierce, he got transferred." The Commander got back to his newspaper. "Another came by looking
for his partner Drew."

"Lyle that bastard". The three of them leave the room.

***

Jarod stumbled in the dark down a passageway, at the end of the passage the light glowed under the door. Jarod opened the door. Drew knelt over the toilet his hand on the wall; he vomited in to the toilet. "You ok!"

"What do you think, I fell like shit!" Drew grabbed some toilet paper and wiped his mouth. He got up and flushed the toilet. Drew walked back to his room and flopped on his bed.

"Are you going to be ok, Drew?"

"Yeah, You go back to bed, I’ll be fine." Jarod went back to bed not to get up again till the morning. Jarod walked past Drew's room, he looked in- Drew was no where to be seen. Jarod went to the bathroom. Drew stood over the sink; he lent down and put his face in the water then bought it back.

"Jarod I can’t go." Jarod smiled and put his hand on Drew's shoulder.

"It’s ok, you need some rest." Drew left and went to lie on the couch. Jarod had a shower and got dressed in his usual black clothes.

"You need any thing?"

"Aspirin, thanks." Jarod left the hotel room and walked to the elevator. He reached over and pressed the ground floor. Jared walked through the lobby and out the front door. The sun was bright so Jarod put his black Sunnis on. Jarod began to walk down the footpath.

Back in the hotel room Drew was getting really sick. His brown hair was now wet through making it look black, his green eyes were now blood shot. Drew’s face was dripping with sweat. He just lay there; eyes closed clutching his side.

Jarod entered the Drug store. He approached the counter "Aspirin, please."

The man behind the counter went over to a shelf and grabbed a little box; he put it on the counter. "3 Dollars."

Jarod put the 3 dollars on the counter and picked up the box. Jarod walked out of the store and down the street. He put the box in his pocket. Jarod walked about 5 blocks then he reached a Bank. Jarod looked up at the worried above the door. He entered the bank and over to the safe deposit box. He looked across up down until he came across number 4089. He looked at the key: it read 4088. Jared put the key in the box next to it. It opened.

Jarod looked in. Nothing. The box was empty, until Jarod had another look. In the back corner something reflected the light. Jarod reached in and picked up a small key. Jarod put the key up in the light; the key was slightly rusted and had the numbers 6 and 7, which Jarod hardly noticed.

"Can I help you." Jarod jumped- a woman dressed in a suit stood behind him.

‘She must work here’ he thought. "No I’m fine" Jarod turned away but the woman still stood there. "What! Have I done something against your policy?"

"No, but we don’t use those keys any more. Those boxes have been thrown out."

"But I have to find this box."

"Ok what number is it."

"Um," Jarod had another look at the key "number sixty-seven."

"I'm not supposed to do this but I’ll do it for you." The woman walked down the passage covered with boxes to a box numbered 67. She lent down and opened it. The door swung open to reveal a single photo. Jarod lent down and picked it up. "Thank you, so very much."

The woman blushed and locked the door again she turned and said "Now, don’t you tell anyone." Jarod smiled "I won’t," and she walked away. Jarod looked at the photo; it was a pale in colour, it was of Lyle. It was taken about 17 years ago. Lyle stood in front of a building; it was hard to tell what building it was. Jarod turned it over to see a message on the back: the words that were written shocked Jarod he put in his jacket pocket and left the Bank. It was dark by the time he left.

Jarod opened the hotel door. "Drew" Jarod called out. He entered the main room; Drew lay asleep on the couch. Jarod wrote a note on a piece of paper; Aspirin on bench, out back by 12.

He left the note on the table by the couch and walked out the door. Jarod didn’t tell Drew were he was going, he couldn’t he wouldn’t understand.

***

10.30 PM and Jarod had just arrived at the apartments. Jarod gazed up to one window in particular: the lights were of and blind down. Jarod got out of the car and went inside. Jarod forced his way into the apartment. He walked in it was dark and little light from out side filtered through the blinds. Jarod got something out of his pocket and left it on the table next to the phone and then he left.

***

Miss. Parker walked into her office "I’m going home, I’m not needed!"

Sydney looked up from his book; Broots from his computer and both gave Miss. Parker ‘I don’t care’ look and went back to what they were doing.

Miss. Parker walked out into the car park and to her car. The lights flashed on her car and she opened the door and got in. 20 minutes later she arrived at her apartment by his time it was 11:30 PM. Miss. Parker searched through her keys finally she found the right one and opened her door. She closed it behind her turned on the light. She pulled off her glasses and lent on the back of the door and closed her eyes. Miss. Parker’s eyes opened to a familiar noise, the phone. She walked over and picked it up "Hello" no answer.

Miss. Parker slammed down the phone; a piece of paper fell to the floor. She bent down her knees and looked under the couch and there it was a white piece of paper with ‘Meet me!

Saturday, midnight Lion Park’. "Jarod" her words were mealy a whisper.

Saturday 11 AM

***

Jarod woke up late and was just getting in to the shower. The warm water ran down his body. He put his face into the stream of water and thought about the hours to come. ‘I must do this, I have to lie to Drew. He can’t know where I’m going, So I can search for the truth, and tell it.’

Suddenly the water ran cold he had been in it for over 1 hour. He jumped out and got dressed. Jarod sat at the table looking at Drew asleep on the couch and started to think that he couldn’t do it. He couldn’t lie to the only person he could trusted. By the time Jarod made his mind up it was already 10:30 PM. He was going. He walked past Drew who still lay asleep on the couch. Jarod opened the door looked back a cold sweat ran down his back. The door slammed behind him. Drew got up from where he laid and looked at the door.

Saturday 12:15 PM

***

Miss. Parker stood in the dark on a lonely hill the wind blowing her hair in her face. She brushed her hair out of her face. Someone seized her hand; she turned around "Jarod". She couldn’t see his face but she knew it was him. "What did you want to tell me?"

"Lyle!"

"What about Lyle?"

"I can’t tell you, you have to see for your self!"

"You made me come here so you can tell me that you can’t tell me. I see no point in me staying here!" Miss. Parker turned to walk away when Jarod grabbed her hand.

"Wait. I have something for you." He pulled her close she could now se his face in the moon light he grabbed her hand and in it he put the photo. "What’s t…" Before she could finish her sentence Jarod lent forward and kissed her. Miss. Parker closed her eyes his kiss was soft. This was the moment she wished for but not like this. As quickly as he came he was gone. Miss. Parker opened her eyes to see Jarod walking down the hill she stood on.

"I got you this time Jarod. Your brothers not here to help you!" Lyle stood 10 meters away from Jarod to his right. Jarod looked up to where Miss. Parker stood he couldn’t see her, she was hidden by the trees that surrounded her. Jarod looked back at Lyle with disbelief. Jarod had now where to go.

"No, but I am" Drew walked out from his cover under the trees. The sweat on his face shone in the moonlight. Drew pointed a gun at Lyle head.

"Why you doing this Andy?"

"Don’t call me Andy" Lyle's gun swung around to face Drew.

"Don’t do this Drew"

"Oh and you can kill me, is that right"

Drew clutched his Teeth; his body was in extreme pain. A cold sweat ran down his back.

"What the F**k are you talking about"

‘Don’t give me that bullshit you know very well. Look at me I’m death and its all courtesy of you"

"I didn’t mean for this to happen. I tried to hide you, but they found you. I couldn’t help it!"

"Bull shit. Its all Bull shit!" A tear began to roll down Drew’s cheek. "How could you do this to me. Your Son, how could you!"

The pain became too much drew yelled a yell of pain and fell to the ground. Lyle walked over to where Drew knelt. With one eye Drew looked up at his father at Lyle. Drew clenched his teeth and got up to face Lyle. The pain didn’t seem to matter anymore. He got up and punched Lyle once in the face then in his chest. Now Lyle knelt on the ground. Drew drew his gun to point and the back of Lyle’s head. Drew's thumb pulled back on the hammer his finger tightened around the trigger.

"No, don’t do it!" Jarod reached out and put his hand on the gun Drew held and lowered it down. Lyle looked up to see someone watch what’s going on up on a hill.

"Parker" Lyle got up and reached for his gun. He stood and began to aim the gun at Drew.

"No!" Jarod jumped on Lyle making him fire his gun. Miss Parker had seen and heard it all; she found it all hard to believe. The gun shot made her jump. She felt a sharp stabbing pain in her chest, she looked down her white silk blouse was starting to turn red. Her head began to spin; she fell to her knees and fell to the ground.

"No" Jarod’s yell was more like a scream. Jarod grabbed Lyle by his shirt and gave him a hard one in the face. Blood began to run down Lyle's lip. Jarod didn’t stop there. He hit Lyle 2 more times. Lyle laid on the ground blood ran down his head and mouth, Jarod was just about to kick Lyle when some sweepers came running over the hill.

Broots and Sydney ran over to Miss Parker. "Get an Ambulance’. Jarod watched from the car parked out side the Park. He blamed him self for getting Parker shot. He looked over the back seat Drew lay unconscious on the back seat. Jarod lent on the steering wheel ‘What have I done.’ The only person he really cared about and he may have helped in the killing of her.

The Ambulance came screaming into the emergency ward. A pale woman in a stretcher out followed two Paramedics. Doctors and nurses to be taken in to an emergency ward rushed her in to the hospital to be met. "You can’t go in there." Sydney was taken out to the waiting room. Lyle sat in a chair with a bandage on his head and some ice on his lib. His plan had worked, but had it really. He had shot his own sister. It would keep her quiet, But for how long. Lyle shook his head and rested it in his hands.

"Shit!" Lyle got up "Shit, F**kin shit!" Lyle kicked the seat he had sat on. "Um.. Excuse me, are you with the woman with the gun shoot wound"

"Yes" Syd answered "Is she alright."

The Doctor hesitated "She’s in a serious condition, we’ll have to wait. I’m sorry." The doctor walked off.

Lyle hands where behind his head he turned away from Sydney. "You did it, didn’t you" Sydney grabbed Lyle’s shoulder and made him turn to face him.

"It was a accident, I didn’t mean it!" Lyle paused "Jarod, he jumped me the gun fired. I didn’t mean to hit her." The tone in Lyle's voice told that he meant it. The electric doors opened and Mr. Parker walked in

"Oh Shit" Lyle turned to the wall.

"How’s my Angel?"

"She’s fine"

"I want to hear what the doctor has to say." Sydney called for the Doctor.

"Lyle what are you doing here, you had nothing to do with this did you!" Lyle continued to look at the wall he couldn’t face him he couldn’t not after what he had just done. Slowly he turned- he had to tell him the truth about it about it all. Lyle was just about to tell Parker when the doctor came.

"You can see her but for only just a minute." Lyle stood at the end of the corridor and watched as Parker followed the doctor down to Miss Parker’s room. Lyle slowly followed he only stood at the door. Mr. Parker’s first words were too predictable: "How did this happen to you Angel ?"

"She shouldn’t talk."

Miss Parker lay in a bed she felt little pain from all the penicillin she had just had. She glanced over to where Lyle stood in the door. He looked like a little scared schoolboy. He knew what would happen if daddy found out. He looked banged up. For some reason she felt sorry for him.

"Daddy I didn’t see the shooter." Lyle couldn’t believe it. At any chance she had she would usually take it. Miss. Parker looked over at Lyle.

"Daddy, Syd. Could you please leave me alone with Lyle?"

Lyle's throat sank as the others left. Miss. Parker lay still in her bed. The room was silent. Lyle was waiting for the inevitable. "Lyle, I know about Drew."

Lyle turned away. "Here you might want it." Miss Parker handed Lyle the photo. Lyle took it out of her hand. "I won’t tell. If you won’t"

Lyle couldn’t believe the words that came out of her mouth. Lyle walked out of the room and down the corridor with the photo in his hand. He walked straight past Mr. Parker and Sydney and out the door. It wasn’t till he got in his car when he looked at the photo. It was of him all right. He stood in a black suit in front of the Pentagon. He turned it over he still remembered what it said. He still read it again.

It read;

Mary,

I’m sorry I left. I had to go. It jeopardized my work at the FBI.

If they find Andy I will never live it down. I’ll watch over him.

I can’t stop these people. I have to join them to save Andy.

I’m Sorry.

Love,

Lyle

Weeks pass everything goes back to normal… but does it ever go back to the way things were?

In every life worth remembering, there is a turning point. A moment in time when a decision is made, and the course of a life is changed. A wrong turn…a second too early or too late… and things might have been different.

For Lyle, that turning point is only moments away and once it is reached…

It can not been taken back.

Drew lies on the ground.

Drew doesn’t move.

He won’t see him again.

He will never hold him…

Never comfort him after a bad dream…

Never know how much he really loved him Lyle screams… and finishes

Ten years later.

Lyle shivered; he was cold yet he sweats all over. The room was dark the curtains closed. Beside him lay a somewhat empty whiskey bottle. A drip falls from the opening and splashes into a small puddle under the bottle.

"What's wrong with me, Anyway?" Lyle not realizing he spoke aloud.

"Why me, Why now. I had to. I couldn’t stop it." Lyle’s anger rages inside him. He snaps. His grip tightens around the glass in his hand. The glass smashes under the pressure. His arm fly’s across and hits the bottle, leaving it to smash on the wooden floor of his apartment. Whiskey ran on the floor in to a pool of what looked like blood. Lyle sat up and left the room.

One single ray of light shone into the room. The light hit a single piece of glass. The glass soaked in blood. Like water the blood beaded and ran down its jagged edge to meet the pool of whiskey.

Lyle’s blood covered an opened draw to his desk. Under a few sheets of paper in the draw was a .45. The metal shone. The gun was loaded the safety off, the hammer back. The gun rested comfortably against Lyle’s temple. His grip tightened so did the trigger.

Ring, Ring.

The phone. Lyle’s eyes opened. He rested the gun on the desk, and picked up the phone.

"Yes?" his voice emotionless.

"We got him this time"

"What, who?"

"Jarod, Lyle are you… beep beep"

They didn’t get to finish Lyle hung up. He looked at the gun and then at the door. Lyle grabbed the gun and walked out the door.

Jarod sat cross-legged on a wooden floor starring at a phone. Nothing was in the room but him and the phone. Jarod went to grab the phone, but stopped. He then continued to reach for the phone. He punched in a number he knew too well.

Across state a phone rang and rang. A bathroom door swung open. A dripping Miss. Parker came walking out. Her wet hair resting on her shoulders. Her wet hand picks up the phone.

"Hello"

No answer, she tried again. "Hello!"

She was just about to hang up when he spoke.

"I trusted you. I don’t now if I can again"

"Jarod"

"No! I’m sorry, yet you sent him there!"

Beep beep!

Miss Parker stood with the phone hanging in her hand resting beside her. The phone call left her confused. She hadn’t seen or spoken to him since the accident at the park. Her fingers touched her lips she turned and left the room. She was already late this was just delaying her more.

Ding!

The doors to the elevator opened. Out stepped Lyle. Hair rustled sleeves rolled up and his jacket resting in one arm. Lyle walked over to his office. Broots standing by his favorite candy vender, noticed Lyle, who had not been at the Centre for the last two weeks.

As soon as Lyle opened the door Bridget sitting on his desk in a short skirt and her leather jacket greeted him.
"Where ya been Luv'?"

Lyle’s head to ground looked up. "We don’t have Jarod do we?"

"No I just mist ya"

Lyle had had enough of today’s happenings. "Get out!"

"What do you mean luv?"

"Get out and take that shitty accent with you.

Bridget left and slammed the office door behind her. Lyle slumped in his chair behind his desk. Could his day get any worse. Lyle’s office door opens and Miss. Parker entered. Then again. Lyle gave a glance over to the wall and then back at Parker.

"What?" no enthusiasm at all.

"Nice to see you again"

"Aww Shucks"

"Have you told anyone?"

"No, now leave"

Miss Parker left. Lyle got up and left his office.

Mr. Parker looked up from his desk. "Come in"

Lyle entered the office of his supposed father. "I need a few weeks off" Lyle was intimidated by his father.

"You have already been away for two weeks" Mr. Parker went back to what he was doing.

"I really need the time off"

Mr. Parker didn’t lift his head. "You have one week"

"Thank you, Sir" Lyle turned to leave and bumped into Miss Parker. They silently passed each other.

A car pulled up out the front of a newly built cottage in the middle of nowhere. Lyle stepped out. All around was silent, Lyle circled around. Bush as far as the eye could see. The door to the cottage opened. On the other side of the door was a woman no older than he was. The woman didn’t speak, but she went to shut the door. Lyle’s hand went up and pushed it open.

"We have to talk"

"If Danni find you here, he will kill you"

"That’s a risk I’ll have to take"

"Come in" The woman led Lyle to the study and closed the door behind her. "Say what you had to say then leave"

"Andrew"

The lady was shocked at the word that had come out of Lyle’s mouth she had to sit down in a chair.

"Marry" Lyle walked over to where Marry sat. "They won, I can’t do anything now. Its time to give in"

Marry suddenly got up. "Bullshit its not over till its over. Isn’t that what you said, isn’t it?"

"What the hell is that son of a bitch doing here!"

Lyle looked over to the doorway were a tall solid man stood.

"Danni he was just leaving"

"No, I have to straighten this out" Lyle walked over to where Danni stood.

"I didn’t kill your son. You knew it would be dangerous to keep him. It was a risk you had to take"

Danni grabbed Lyle by his collar. "You should have killed him all those years ago"

"I can’t kill my own son"

"But you can kill mine"

Marry walked over to Lyle. "He’s not your son, he’s you"

"What the hell are you going on about?"

"Tell him Lyle"

Lyle walked over to the window and looked out in confusion.

"Andrew was Lyle's clone"

"You can’t be serious"

"The test backfired, and Andrew had to be destroyed. Lyle couldn’t do it"

"That’s it, I’m going"

Lyle went to exit the room but was stopped by Marry. "Take this"

A small test tube containing a green liquid rested in Lyle’s hand. "He should take it every three weeks"

Lyle looked at the his hand. "There is not a day that goes by I don’t think how things might have been" Lyle turned and walked out.

Lyle sat in his car for a while staring at the test tube in his hand. His foot slammed down on the pedal and speed of down the street.

Lyle arrived back at his office three days later. Mr. Raines was in his office waiting for him. "We hate it when people betray us"

Lyle knew what it was, his safe was open and the picture was gone. "I have no idea what you talking about"

A sweeper threw the photo at Lyle’s feet. His eyes didn’t follow the photo but stared right on Raines.

"You lied, and there is only one thing we do to people how lie to us"

"No" Lyle's yell echoed throughout the Centre. The two gunshots that followed were silenced, no one knew of what had just happened.
