Angel
part I

By Apollo’s Girl

Miss Parker sat at the edge of her tub feeling numb as the water slowly filled it, the steam rising in tendrils. As the water reached close to the top she turned off the faucet and lowered her chilled body into the scolding water. She still felt numb as she tried to relax, but her father’s words echoed through her head.

„Kill him Angel. Kill him." They repeated themselves over and over like a mantra. The Centre had decided after three years of freedom that Jarod was not worth the money to capture again. If they were able to capture him again, he would most likely escape again. So kill him, save money, not waste anymore people or time. Kill him, it was so simple and they wanted her to do it.

But it should be easy for her ** Shouldn’t it? ** After all she was cold, unfeeling, the ** Ice Queen ** She’s killed before.

** Your own brother! **

** But he lived! **

** You still shot him! ** So she was a killer. She could kill him. After all Jarod’s father killed her mother, he was the cause of all of her pain, the ulcer, the emotional; he made her feel the void in her soul. She shouldn’t care if he dies. She doesn’t care.

** But you do care. **

** Why? **

** Because he’s the only who cares for you. ** That was like slap across her face.

She got out of the tub and wrapped the huge towel around her body. She made her way to the bed and just lay there, not bothering to get dressed. Letting the water cool off on her like ice.

** Kill him Angel! **

Either way she would kill him. Bring him in and slowly kill his soul or just shoot him. Shooting him would probably be better, short and sweet, less painful. But would she be able to live with it. ** Probably not. **

** But what else could she do? **

** You could let him live. **

** Letting him live? **

** Let him find his own happiness. **

** Could I give it to him? No, yes, I don’t know! **

„Kill him Angel. Kill him, kill him Angel."

She opened her eyes in the darkened room and felt someone besides her.

** Jarod! **

„What?" She whispered as she felt him sit besides her, placing a hand on her bare arm.

„You’re cold." He whispered back, his voice silkily seductive. He ran his hands up and down her arms trying to warm her. She felt weak and confused.

** Why? **

„Parker." He whispered in her ear. Too close. His breath hot against her wintry skin.

„Can’t!" She replied weakly as she moved her lips to his. He captured her lips and deepened their kiss with each passing moment, his hands undoing her bound towel. She shivered at his warmth and at how his hands traveled over her body.

** No, no, no! **

They kissed more deeply, their bodies melding into one. She reached her hand out. Cold metal.

One shot.

Blood.

His.
Silence.

Miss Parker sat straight up, feeling the beads of liquid clinging to her body. She wrapped her arms around her. Rocking herself she looked at the bed.

** Nothing **

Her body, just sweat.

** A dream. **

She got out of the bed and made her way to her dresser. She put on her nightshirt and robe. Walking out into the living she stared at everything around her.

** You can’t do it. **

** Can’t do what? **

** You can’t kill him. **

** No I can’t. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself. **

** What are you going to do? **

Miss Parker looked down at the picture of her and her mother.

** I’m going to see her. **

She pulled out the gun from the table drawer. She placed by her temple.

„Goodbye, Jarod. Be safe." She whispered and she pulled.

Silence.

Hers.

Angel
part II

By Apollo’s Girl

Jarod walked into the room. He saw her standing there.

** So beautiful. **

He saw her pull out a gun. ** She heard me. **

„Goodbye, Jarod. Be safe." She whispered and she pulled.

„Parker!" He cried out and rushed to her. The blood pooled out of her skull.

** So much blood. **

He placed his hand on her head trying to stop the bleeding, all the time looking around helplessly for a way to bring her back. He pulled out his cell phone.

** 911 **

„Help!" He said as he heard the operator’s voice. What else he said was lost to him they were just words. All he could think of was how he was losing her, losing her for good.

** But it’s an end to it all. No longer being chased, no longer causing pain for her. **

** No, no, NO! She’s my life! Everything I did was for her! **

** Was it? Was it all for her? **

** More than I ever thought it was. **

** What about your search for your family, for who you are? **

** That was so that I could bring her home to one. Give her the family she deserved! **

The paramedics arrived. Everything was a blur to him the only thing that was clear was her cold form, losing so much blood.

** Not her, why her? **

** It was her choice! **

** I could’ve stopped her. I should of known that’s what she wanted to do. **

** How could you? Every time she pulled out her gun it was to point at you. How could you know this time it was for herself. **

** I should have known. I should have known. **

„Sir?" A paramedic looked at him worriedly. He looked at her, all his despair in his eyes.

„Is she?" Was all that he could he say, barely heard.

„She’s hanging on, but barely. Would you like to come with us?"

„Please."

The hospital was quiet. He held onto to her, but he knew it was a lost cause. She will be dead by morning. ** Parker why? **

He shook his head. „We could have found another way!" He whispered. „It didn’t have to end like this. We could have found another way!"

Jarod looked at her, feeling her life slowly seep out of her. ** Why love her, when she hurt you so much? **

** Because she didn’t know what love was, because it scared her, because I wanted to be the one to show her. **

** To late now. **

** No, it’s not. **

** What do you mean? **

** Because I will live, I will be safe as she asked me to be. I will live the life that she deserved so that when I see her, she will know. **

** Then you better leave. Her father will come soon. **

„I love you Parker." He whispered as he kissed her on her cold lips.

And he left her to the silence of death.

Her silence.

Angel
part III

By Apollo’s Girl

It was just one call, one call that would doom him to feel all the guilt that was buried in him. The one call that opened up his Pandora’s box. His little girl was gone.

** Suicide. **

** Your own fault. **

** How can it be my fault, she pulled the trigger! **

** Yet it was you who pushed her to that point. **

** How? **

** Asking her to kill the man she loved. **

** I didn’t know she loved him. **

** You did and you know it. You always knew it, just like Catherine did! **

** Catherine. **

** You caused her death too. **

** It had to be done. **

** Did it? She could have saved them. Saved you! **

** From what? **

** From this guilt. She could have taken your daughter away and your little angel would still be alive. Happy. **

** It was all for her! All of it! **

He got out of his chair and walked over to the door. Making his way out of the Centre to the hospital.

** You really believe you did it all for her? **

** She’s my little girl. **

** You could have been there for her. **

** She needed me to be strong. She needed to see that life could still go on! **

** She needed you to love her, needed you to show that to her. She needed you to be there, to really be there. **

He walked into her room. The machines beeping slowing into one monotonous tone.

** My little angel. **

** She’s gone. **

** I did it all for you! **

„I did it all for you!" He cried out in anguish, holding onto to her lifeless hand. More quietly, „I did it all for you!"

Tears. They fell down in streams, only once before have they fallen.

** When Catherine died. **

** At least my angel is not alone. **

** She was never alone. **

** My fault. All mine. **

** But? **

** But life goes on. As it always did. No matter what kind of monster I am. **

He stayed there for the rest of the night. Holding on to her cold body, asking for forgiveness he would never hear an answer to. Not until the day he died.

Not until it was time for his silence.
