This is a series that I wrote. The series “It Ends” is actually a series of series. They all tell a way of ending the pretender for good! They don’t make much sense if you read them out of order. This is the first part of the first series.

Timeline- This could probably fit in just about anywhere
Authors Notes- As I said I only saw 1 series!

It Ends; Falling in the Darkness
Part 1- Capture

Swimming through the darkness, he regained consciousness. He felt a presence in the room. Wishing to stay as he was, he kept his eyes shut. What had happened? Could he remember? Suddenly the memories filled his mind, the whole thing. The sudden sharp pain in his shoulder and side told him that it was true. He was back, back in hell.

Miss Parker stood in the doorway of her office, surveying the now empty room around her. It was strange, she had what she wanted but…no it was nothing, she could live her life now, finally. But the memory of the day before wouldn’t leave. Her hand reached for the door handle once more as she glanced sadly around the room. She frowned suddenly and closed the door, her office empty now. “Sad…regrets” a voice whispered from the ventilation shaft above Miss Parker’s office.

Everything had been going so well he thought. Jarod had managed to get a job as a handyman at an apartment building where the previous handyman had been murdered. He almost had it. How had she found him? He remembered so clearly what had happened he had been on the roof fixing a leak when she came up behind him, resting her gun against his neck.

“Jarod, Wake up” a voice said, this time in the present.

Hearing Sydney’s voice he opened his eyes looking up at him. A nearby heart monitor beeped “How are you?” he asked his voice full of concern.

Jarod just glared back. The noise of the gunshot still lingered in his mind.

“Look, Jarod…” Sydney mumbled shifting un comfortably.

“What?!” Jarod demanded. The last thing he needed was Sydney begging him to cooperate.

“It’s nice to have you home” he said then turned and left. Jarod looked to the drip going into his arm. What did they have him on?

Angelo sat at a junction in a pipe overlooking Jarod’s room. Medical equipment filled the room. There were no windows, just the same old lights that ran along every corridor.

“Alone, not alone” he mumbled as he rocked back and forth, looking down on Jarod, in his hospital bed.

“Stand up!” Miss Parker had snapped, “Slowly”. Jarod had carefully done as she asked as two sweepers came up behind her either side. One reached his

hand over and grabbed Jarod roughly by the elbow. Now or Never! Had flashed through his mind. Jarod elbowed the sweeper away and kicked the other. He ran. He ran fast, towards the edge of the roof.

“Stop!” Miss Parker had yelled. “I’ll shoot!” she warned but he ran on anyway. The pain ripped through his side and he struggled onward. He heard her run after him and felt the second bullet rip through his shoulder as he sank down to the ground, struggling all the way. Why had it happened? His blood seeped onto the ground around his. He tried to keep focused but he lost his grip on consciousness as the sweeper rolled him over and said:

“I thought they wanted him alive.”

Sydney worried about him. Miss Parker had almost killed Jarod. Although she had gotten him back… at what cost? He hated her even more now. Didn’t he? Sydney had been so happy when he heard the news. Jarod was back now, but then he was suddenly sad. Was he being selfish for wanting him to come home?

Even if Jarod wanted the opposite. Even if this wasn’t his home but his prison? Sydney frowned to himself as he closed the door to his office.

“Just heard the good news” a voice rasped behind him.

“Yes Jarod is back with us” Sydney said, turning to Raines.

“A good day for the Centre” Raines said as he walked away, the wheels of his oxygen tank squeaking as he went.

Jarod was sitting up now. He knew that it was more than just painkillers they were giving him. His head throbbed with pain. He couldn’t go on, not like this, he had to get away. I’ll be okay..no, no I won’t not ever.

“It’s about the current situation” Mr. Parker said “Will he cooperate?” Sydney shifted uneasily “I don’t think so” he said, defeated.

“Mr Raines wants control of the project” Mr Parker said as he took a file from his desk drawer.

“I don’t think that that would be wise” said Sydney

“Without results, he’s got it, so I advise you to get results” Mr Parker then seated himself at his desk and waved Sydney away.

Jarod sat staring at the wall thinking, thinking about his mistakes and how to get out. He looked around the room searching vainly for an escape. The walls were blank except for the tiny window in the door and a tiny ventilation grille, he’d never get through. How could he get out?

Jarod felt the drowsiness. He knew that they had given him something, he just hoped that he would wake up again. The darkness pulled him in, and he reluctantly went.

It Ends; Falling in the Darkness
Part 2- Suspicions

by Likesalaughie

“Please hold” the man said glancing up at the two women standing at the desk, he put down the phone, “Can I help you?”

“Yes we’re here to see a Mr Parker… we have an appointment” Jones shifted uneasily as she said this, she didn’t like it here, there was something about this place…what was it? The man at the large reception desk turned to his computer, typing quickly he said;

“Yes, I have you down here for two o’clock” he pointed to a large chrome clock mounted on the wall behind them, it was ten to.

“We’ll wait” Delaney announced pulling Jones towards a big black leather sofa adjacent to the reception desk; she threw an apologetic smile towards the receptionist. Delaney looked at her watch again, she couldn’t bear to sit here staring at that man for ten minutes, and everything here was so...black, and…formal.

Staring up at them, the receptionist pulled his office chair back and hurried through a door behind him.

“It’s the two women, for Mr Parker,” he mumbled to the sweeper.

“Yes, we’ll deal with them” he said grabbing him by the shoulder and turning towards the door,” Get back to your job”.

“Where’s he gone?” Jones hissed.

“I don’t know, I don’t like this place, it gives me the creeps,” Delaney murmured. Jones frowned and indicated the small camera at the corner of the ceiling, watching them. Why all the cameras, Jones thought, what kind of company needed so many security cameras? There must have been at least 20 on the way in….

“Ah, Ms. Jones?” startled she looked up, a large man in a black suit stood looking down on her, who was he supposed to be? Men In Black? He gestured for them to follow him. Jones looked to Delaney, she just shrugged. He led them through a door and down a corridor; they walked for a long time. Delaney wondered why the president of a company would have his office so far away from the front entrance. The man ushered them into a lift and Jones noticed that it was a key card lift, should she say something? But she never did, something struck the back of her head and everything went dark, the last thing she heard was Delaney’s sudden shriek cut short.

“Mr Parker…they’ve been taken care of, the two women”

“Good” Mr Parker replied he turned his chair and gestured for the sweeper to leave the room. He backed out uncertainly, shuffling. The door creaked shut and Mr Parker picked up the phone.

“Can I get you something from the bar miss?” Miss Parker pulled her sunglasses down her nose and looked up at the waiter. She glared up at him; she was trying to relax. He mumbled some sort of apology as he turned and broke into a jog as he returned to the bar. Miss Parker began to reapply her sun cream as she looked around her, finally she was on holiday, and she really needed this, a chance to be by herself with no interruptions what was that? Her phone rang wildly in her bag, why did she have to bring it? She grabbed it and all the people around the pool looked up startled as she yelled.

“What?!…Oh, hi Daddy…no…the reason I went on holidays was to have a break from work…no! I don’t need you do…no…I know you care but…okay yes I’ll talk to you later, yes Daddy okay, bye!” She threw the phone in her bag, why had everyone gone so quiet? She marched away.

“Who’s she, the loud one? Your little friend?” the barman asked the now blushing waiter. He just ignored him.

Miss Parker marched angrily along, there was her holiday…ruined! She threw open the door of her beach front room and grabbed the phone, now to head back, why couldn’t she just stay until she got a decent tan? Next time she would have to learn to part with her phone, this brought a smile to her lips that was quickly wiped away.

“What do you mean you only have coach?!” she screamed.

“This is the deal,” Clarke said,” Jones and Delaney haven’t reported back.” The people around the long table shifted in their seats, as Clarke stood up, he was a tall man and he towered over them all.

“We never had enough before, they’ve been doing this kind of thing for years and this, along with the E-mail, there’s a copy of that here, is enough we won’t stand for this.” The others nodded their agreement. “As you can see, someone within the centre has been giving us information, all we have is the name Timmy, we’ve been trying to get contact but, that’s proving difficult. We’re taking action,” he said

“It’s time”

Sydney was very worried, why was this happening? Jarod wasn’t cooperating, he wouldn’t speak to anyone, he wouldn’t eat, and he just sat there staring straight ahead. Jarod sat on the other side of the one-way mirror, he knew Sydney was watching him, he was trapped, he was trapped in darkness and it frightened him, he didn’t know what to do, he just wanted to die…and be over with it. There he was falling in the darkness, maybe to his death.
