Dark Half
Part 1
By Holly

Miss Parker drove in a fast rush to get to her destination. She felt the terrible sense of dread and death deep in her heart. She should feel exited and satisfied that she finally got a tip on the whereabouts of Jarod but this had to be the worst timing in her life! She cursed Jarod as she thought this must be his fault in some way.

She looked down at the DSA case that lay next to her seat and then back on the road. She took out a disk from her pocket and sighed as she looked sadly at it.

Then from out of nowhere a gun shot was heard and the sound of her tire popping. She gasped as she began to feel the car swerving out of control. She tried to control the car and made sure not to step on the breaks even though the need was great to do so.

Another gun shot was heard as she heard the sound of the other tire popping. Miss Parker let herself cry out this time as she saw her car fly over the road and fly into the water that lay below. Her last thought was of her mother and how she may never avenge her death.

The Centre Blue Cove Delaware

“It’s been over two days now and we still haven’t heard from Miss Parker!”, Sydney snapped.

Mr. Parker’s blue eyes darkened as he looked up at Sydney.

“Don’t worry so much Sydney. I’m sure my daughter will get in touch with us as soon asshe can. She probably got a lead on Jarod. At least she’s doing her job. Unlike someone who is worried about something so trivial”

“Trivial?!!” Sydney walked closer to Mr. Parker’s desk and slammed his hand down on it.

“I’m telling you something is wrong. It’s not like her not to contact the Centre. Something must have happened to her. Can’t you just let me go look for her. While Broots can keep searching for Jarod!”

Mr. Parker slowly rose up from his chair.

“I will not have the search for Jarod be interrupted. Now go back and keep looking for Jarod. That’s an order” Sydney stepped away as his eyes glistened in anger.

“Fine. It wouldn’t be the first time you stood by and let this happen again!” Sydney walked away and slammed the door shut behind him. Broots rushed towards him and paused as he saw Sydney’s dark and angry gaze.

“Are you all right Syd?” Sydney kept walking as Broots followed.

“I can’t believe how cold Mr. Parker could be to his own daughter’s disappearance!” He’s gaze turned to Broots. “Were you able to track her cellular phone?”

Broots looked sadly back at him. “No I haven’t”

Sydney sighed as he tried to think of another way to find Miss Parker. Brootse’s eyes narrowed in concentration as he thought about the problem. Then it lightened as another thought came to mind. “Maybe you could ask Jarod to help”

Sydney shook his head as he reached his office. “There is no way of contacting Jarod at this point. I haven’t heard anything from him and I can’t send him an email since that time Mr. Lyle tried to lure him into a trap”

Broots looked sadly down as he put his hand in his pockets. “I wonder if Raines might be responsible?”

Sydney sat down on his chair as his eyes narrowed in concentration. “I thought that too, but I don’t think so”

Broots huffed in disbelief. “What makes you say that. Raines hates Miss Parker. He has every reason to kill her”

Sydney paused as he remembered the day before Miss Parker’s disappearance...

Sydney had come into his office and saw Miss Parker sitting in his chair. He could see she was visibly shaken about something. “Miss Parker are you all right?”

She looked up and then away as she composed herself. “I’m fine Syd. I just needed to ask you something.”

Sydney sat down across from her as he looked at her with concern in his eyes. “What is it Parker?”

She turned her seat to face him. “Did you ever meet the triumvirate or any one of the members while you were in charge of Jarod?”

Sydney shook his head sideways “They never showed their faces but they always had the DSA’S to let them keep track of Jarod’s progress” He looked curiously at her as he leaned closer towards her direction. “Why are you asking?”

She stood up as she began to pace back and forth. “I think I may have a clue as to my mothers murderer”

Sydney’s eyes widened in shock as he stood up. “Are you sure”

She stopped pacing as she sat on the desk. “I received a DSA disk at my home yesterday night” She paused in thought and looked away. “I thought it might have been from Jarod but I don’t think so. My gut instinct tells me it’s from someone else”

Sydney crossed his arms as his eyes filled with concern. “But who?”

She ran a hand through her hair. “I don’t know but I’m going to follow the clue the DSA disk is leading me too!”

“Where is the clue leading you too?” She stood away from the desk as she was about to leave. “California”

Sydney followed her to the door as he looked worriedly at her. “Be careful Parker this doesn’t sound right. You could be in danger if you are getting this close to an answer”

She nodded and then opened the door. “Don’t worry Syd I can take care of myself. I’ll see you in an hour. I need to look at this disk again.”

He put his hand out to stop her. “Can I see it?” She turned her head sideways as she tried to hide her fear. “No, not yet. I’ll show it to you and Broots tomorrow.” Then she rushed out of his office.

Sydney’s memory ended as he heard Broots calling his name.

“Sydney are you all right you seemed to be in another world” Sydney looked away and began to leave. “Where are you going Syd?”

Sydney paused as he looked back. “I’m going to have a look around Miss Parker’s house and you are going to keep a search out for Jarod. I don’t want Mr. Parker to realize that we are still looking for her.”

Broots nodded as they both left Sydney’s office.

Both men didn’t notice the dark figure that was silently watching them. He began to dial his cellular phone and as he moved his arm up to the light it only showed his black gloved hand. “They don’t know a thing.”, he whispered. Then he hung up and turned around to walk back deeper into the darkness.

She slowly opened her eyes as she saw the light shining in her eyes. She looked away and groaned as she felt the pain in her head. “Where am I?”

“Your in my summer cottage. I go here to relax but it seems I was sent here early to save you” Her head snapped back to look at him with surprise. “You saved my life?” He put the light away and smiled down at her.

“I’m Allen Foster, you were in a car accident and I found you and brought you here.” Her eyes widened in shock as she tried to get up.

“No don’t get up you took a nasty hit on the head. It looks pretty bad. You should lie down.” She lied back down and tried to push the pain she felt all over her body. She looked up into dark green eyes, brown wavy hair and she estimated him to be about six feet tall.

He sat beside her and took her hand in his. “It was a pleasure to save a beautiful woman in distress.” She smiled back and then flinched as she felt her head hurting again. “You need some rest so I’ll get out of your way.”

He paused as he was about to leave and looked curiously back at her.

“By the way I never got your name? I need to know the damsel in distress I saved.”

She laid back and then tried to concentrate and gasped as the realization hit her. “I don’t know!”

He walked back to her and took her hand and tried to comfort her.

“Don’t worry your memory will come back to you. It just takes a little bit of time. Now get some sleep, Doctor’s orders.”

She looked up at him with hope in her eyes. “Your a doctor?” He chuckled as he nodded yes. “Do you mean it! My memory will come back?”

He rubbed her hand in between his own. “Of course it will. Now get some sleep” She smiled back and closed her eyes to sleep.

Miami, Florida

Jarod opened the door to his latest apartment. As he walked inside he sighed and sat down to relax. He had been careful to keep the Centre away from him for six months. But he needed to see if Miss Parker had found out anything on her mothers killer. He chuckled at his false thoughts knowing he had missed there usual small chats. Jarod had also been thinking a lot of the kiss they had shared in Montana.

Jarod took out a photo of his mother holding him when he was a baby. He sighed and wondered if what Fenigor had said was true. He looked at his cellular phone and began to dial Miss Parker’s phone number. He heard a beep and then a voice.

“I’m sorry that number is no longer in service. Please check the number again.”

Jarod paused in surprise as he tried to dial again and got the same message. Maybe Miss Parker had decided to change her number after so many annoying calls from him. But Jarod pushed that silly thought away, he knew Miss Parker would never do that. She wanted to stay in contact with him so she might get a clue as to his whereabouts. Jarod had that small worry growing at the pit of his stomach as he dialed Sydney’s number.

“Yes this is Sydney.”

“What’s going on Sydney, I tried to call Miss Parker but I couldn’t get through?”

Sydney sighed in relief as he heard Jarod’s voice. “Thank god you called Jarod. Miss Parker’s missing!”

Jarod’s eyes widened in shock. “What! But when and for how long?”

Sydney sat down on his chair. “It’s been four days so far.”

Jarod began to walk around in his room. “What about her father. Hasn’t he been searching for her or called the police?”

Sydney growled in frustrations. “No he thinks she’s fine and probably following a lead on you. He won’t listen to me and told me to do my job”

Jarod sighed as he walked to the outdoor patio. “Did she talk to you before she disappeared? Or do you have any idea why she would be in danger?”

Sydney became silent, wondering if he should tell Jarod.

Jarod sensed his hesitation and whispered, “If you want me to find her you’ll have to tell me everything Syd.”

Sydney closed his eyes and hoped Miss Parker would forgive him. “She received a DSA disk that gave her a clue to your father.”

Jarod’s eyes widened in shock and then narrowed.

“How?” Sydney sighed as he looked up. “She said she found a DSA disk in her house. She thought it may have been placed there by you but--”

“You know I wouldn’t Syd especially if it had something to do with my real father.”

“I know that Jarod and Miss Parker knew that too. She had a feeling it was obviously someone else who put it in her home. But before she was about to investigate she had disappeared!”

Jarod looked out at the night sky in thought. “Did you see the disk?”, Jarod asked.

“No I didn’t. Miss Parker was going to show it to me the day she disappeared.”

“If you would have seen it you would have disappeared as well.” Sydney sighed and leaned on his chair.

“I still wonder what kind of clue is on that disk?” Jarod’s eyes darkened in anger. “Whatever it is Syd, it’s obviously something that no one is meant to look at. I think Miss Parker was set up to be terminated.”

“But why?” Sydney asked as his eyes widened at what Jarod was saying.

“I don’t know but I have to find her Syd. I need to know what she saw on that disk.”

Sydney grimaced and leaned back on his chair. “Is that the only reason you want to find her Jarod? Because of the DSA disk!”

Jarod leaned on the balcony and looked up at the moon. “You know me better than that Syd. I’ll contact you later.”

Then the line went dead and Sydney looked up at the ceiling and prayed that Jarod would find Miss Parker.

“So there you are I thought you had gotten lost in these woods!” Kate looked up as she saw Allen walking towards her.

“Sorry about that I just had the urge to take a long walk.” She looked up at the birds that were perched on the tree. “I just have so many questions in my mind. I feel like I just needed some air to try and clear my head.”

Allen nodded in understanding. “Don’t rush it Kate. Your memory will return I’m sure of it.”

She looked down at the ground. “I wonder what my real name is. I mean, you gave me that name but I know in my heart it’s not who I am.”

Allen put a comforting arm around her. She shrugged away as she felt uncomfortable in his embrace. “Sorry I forgot you don’t like getting close.”

She sighed as she looked apologetically up at him. “I’m sorry Allen. you’ve done so much for me, but for some reason I have a feeling I don’t get close to people that much. I wonder why?”

Allen shrugged and smiled down at her. “I don’t know but your behavior seems to be a sign that you may be getting your memory back.”

She sighed as she crossed her arms. “I don’t know Allen, Sometimes I wonder if I should get my memory back?”

Allen’s eye brows rose curiously. “What do you mean?”

She began to pace around and ran a hand through her hair. “You know I have nightmares at night of hurt and death. I see a woman who looks exactly like me being shot in an elevator for god sakes! Whatever life I lived obviously wasn’t a good one. I wonder if I’m better off not finding out who I am!” She hugged herself and looked up at the bright blue sky.

Allen walked closer to her as he patted her shoulder. “At least the pills I’ve given you have helped you sleep a little better at night.”

She looked up at him and smiled. “Yes they have helped. My dreams aren’t as vivid anymore. I want to thank you. You’ve really been there for me.”

He’s green eyes sparkled in the sunlight. “I’m glad to help Kate. Ever since that night I found you I’ve come to care for your well being and if you don’t want to remember then I’d like it if ---” He stopped as he looked shyly down at the ground.

She looked curiously up at him. “What is it Allen? You’d like it if what?”

“Could you stay with me here, in my cottage. I’d like to get to know you Kate and I want you to stay with me.”

She smiled up at him and nodded her head. “Yes I want too stay.”

Allen slowly smiled at her. “That’s wonderful Kate. I promise you. You won’t regret your decision.”

The Centre Blue Cove Delaware

Mr. Parker stepped into the main tower and stooped as he faced a man with short blond hair and steely gray eyes.

“Get out of my way Byron.”

The man merely looked down at him and crossed his arms. “Why Mr. Parker it’s a pleasure to see you too. The Triumvirate was about to call you. They just
stepped inside. They want to talk to you.”

Mr. Parker merely ignored him as he walked past him and into the Tower room. He looked at the table before him with three figures looking up as he entered.

“It’s about time you showed up Parker. For a minute there I had a feeling your daughters incompetence was rubbing off on you.”

Mr. Parker looked up at the man sitting in the middle. “At least I’m still here. Unlike Mr. Lyle who had that unfortunate incident with the Yakuza Mafia.”

The man stayed quite as he merely stared coldly back at him. He lit his cigarette as the light showed the deep dark hair streaked with gray.

One of the other members stood up and tried to stop their arguing.

“Enough of this! We need you both to work together in order to capture Jarod. It’s almost been three years! This has gone on long enough!”

Mr. Parker sat down and leaned back on his chair. “I can take care of it.”

The man sitting in the middle chuckled. “It doesn’t look like it Parker I think it’s time we give Devon a chance. He’s been trained and who better to catch Jarod then him.”

Parker stood up as he looked angerly down at the Triumvirate “My daughter can handle Jarod!”

“Your daughter has disappeared and has been too busy trying to find out who killed her mother. Face it Parker she can’t handle the job. Devon can finish it!”

Mr. Parker’s blue eyes sparkled in anger as he slowly walked towards the dark figure sitting in the middle. “And whose fault is it that she disappeared?”

The dark figure merely shrugged.

Mr. Parker leaned threateningly closer to the dark figure and growled in anger. “You killed her didn’t you!”

The man stood deadly still and looked up at Parker. “Of course I didn’t. How could you say such a thing.”

Then he looked both ways as he addressed the other two members of the Triumvirate. “I think we should give Parker a chance and see if he’s daughter will show up. Let’s wait two more days and if she doesn’t show up then I suggest we make sure she’s terminated and that my son take control of the re-capturing of Jarod. With no interruptions from Parker or Raines.”

Mr. Parker was about to protest but was cut off as the middle figure asked, “That is unless you are trying to protect your daughter Parker. Are you trying to put her well being over the importance of the Centre?”

Parker held back all the rage he felt building inside of him. He looked at the dark figure and quietly seethed. “Of course not. My only interest is the Centre. I accept your plan and I know my daughter will appear again. And if she does then your son must stay out of my daughters way in the re-capture of Jarod.”

The middle figure nodded his head in agreement and cheerfully said. “Fine, I know my son will be out there looking for Jarod soon enough.” Then looked back at the other members of the Triumvirate and they nodded there heads in agreement.

She could see the dark shadow approaching her as she felt fear over come her. “Who--Who are you?”

The man didn’t answer as he slowly approached her. He pointed his gun at her as she cried out! She saw a bright flash of light as she saw herself chasing after a man dressed in black. She called out his name....

Then her mind flashed again as she saw a young boy looking at her smiling down at her. In that instance she felt warmth and friendship deep in her heart. Then the boy began to disappear causing her to cry out for him to come back. She awoke in a cold sweat as she sat up and took deep breaths of air.

Allen ran into her room to see what had happened. “Are you all right Kate!”

Kate sighed as she held her head in her hands. “I wish this dream would stop haunting me.” She looked sadly up at him. “But I don’t think this is ever going to go away.” She sighed as she leaned back on her pillow. “But at least this dream was a little different.”

Allen’s face became impassive as he looked at her. “What do you mean? How?”

She thought back to her dream as she looked out at her window. “There was a young boy in my dream. There was..... something about him.” Her head furrowed in concentration. “I felt warm and happy with him,”

Allen green eyes darkened in concern but hid his expression as he looked away. “I think I should give you, your medicine. It seems like you need it.”

She looked up at him and then away. “No, not tonight Allen thanks.”

She laid her head on top of her hands and looked up at the ceiling. “I think it’s time I faced my past. I want to figure out who I am even if it is dangerous.”

Allen sighed and sat down on her bed. “Are you sure Kate. You’ve been happy here haven’t you?”

Kate looked at him and smiled. “Of course I’ve loved it here. But I need to find out who I am. I know at first I didn’t want to know and you keep telling me it’s dangerous for me and that I should stay here with you but--?”

He put his hand on hers. “I understand. I’ll help you any way I can. But can you at least take the pill so it can help you sleep. I’d hate to see you having nightmares again.”

She smiled as she nodded her head yes. He quickly went to the kitchen to get a cup of water and the sleeping pills. She sighed as she drank the water down and swallowed the pills. Kate felt sleep overcome her as she began to fall asleep.

Allen walked out of her room and went back into his own. He’s green eyes darkened in anger as he picked up his phone and began to dial.

“It’s me. Kate isn’t responding to her medication.” He paused as he listened.

“I agree.” He sighed and then looked out his window. “Yes it will be done tomorrow” He paused as he looked at a picture that was on his desk. “We’ll both be waiting for the helicopter to come and pick us up tomorrow night.”

He then hung up and looked sadly at the picture of him and Kate smiling together in the woods.

Weston, Vermont

Jarod drove down the small road and stooped as he looked to his map next to him. He could hear the tracking device beeping continuously telling him that he was close. He turned the device up and as he turned it down the mountain the beep turned into an alarm. He pointed the machine at the large river and the machine indicated that the car was in the river. Jarod was grateful to Raines for once, since he always had a tracking device installed in Miss Parker’s car. Jarod turned off the machine and began to drive the opposite direction down the mountain and towards the river. He stooped as he saw the river ahead and walked closer to the mountain. He bent down to examine the ground and found scrape marks. He followed the clue that led to the river in front of him. He closed his eyes as he pictured the car sliding down the hill and splashing into the river below. Jarod opened his eyes as he tried to push the image from his mind and got ready to swim below.

He swam deep into the river and in the darkness he could see a shadow of a large object below. He dove more quickly and felt his heart racing rapidly as he approached the vehicle. When Jarod approached he stopped and only looked at the car that lay ruined on the ground. He closed his eyes and gave a small prayer. Then he swam closer and his eyes widened in shock because he saw that the drivers-side door was open. He searched inside but found no trace of Miss Parker’s body. He looked on the bottom of the seat and found the DSA case. He took it and began to swim back to the surface. Jarod took in a deep amounts of air and quickly swam to shore.

He put the case in front of him and opened it but didn’t find the DSA disk. He swore in anger as he felt frustration well up inside of him. He looked around the woods in hope of an answer as too were Miss Parker could be. He got dressed and decided to look back at the map. Then he looked away from the map as he scanned the area with his eyes. He decided to take a drive around the area and hoped Miss Parker would to be alive. “She has to be all right.” Jarod whispered to himself.

“She has too!”

Kate walked deep into the forest as she went to her favorite place. Allen had told her that most of the time Vermont was covered by snow but in summer all you see are the lovely trees and rivers. She walked over to the large oak tree as and was rewarded with a wonderful view of the river below. She looked to her right as she saw a large brown rabbit coming out of the bushes. She smiled as she watched the small creature bounce away as it sensed her presence. She laughed and looked up at the clear blue sky and closed her eyes and felt the sun warm on her skin. Kate was glad she had worn shorts and T-shirt since it was so warm.

She sighed as she began to think about her dream again and began to remember the little boy in her dream. She must be close to him somehow and began to feel warm as she thought about the kiss she had given the boy. She must have liked this little boy very much and wondered if she had lost him? She looked sadly up at the sun and her eyes widened in shock as she could see that the sun was beginning to set. She looked at her watch and saw that it was already six thirty. She gasped and began to get up but stopped as she heard a car driving below.

Kate looked down and saw a Jeep driving just below were she was standing. She ducked down and felt the air rush out of her as she saw the driver. He had dark hair and somehow she knew he must have the dark luminous eyes. She sucked in some needed air and knew this man was from her dreams. Then her mind flashed to the same man she had been chasing after. She had called out his name many times before. But she blocked the memory away because she knew this man was trouble. She quickly stood up and ran back to the cabin.

Jarod stopped his car as he sensed someone watching him. He looked at the area below and then he heard footsteps. Jarod looked up and quickly got out of the car and ran up the large hill. He squatted down to examine the footprints and began to follow. He gasped as he finally caught site of the cabin and ran as fast as he could until he stopped in shock. He saw Miss Parker run inside of the cabin and slam the door shut.

Kate sighed as she leaned on the door. She looked outside the window and couldn’t see anyone around and closed her eyes in relief. She leaned away from the door and called out Allen’s name. She looked all over the cabin but found no one. Then she saw a note on the table in front of her. She picked it up and then rolled her eyes heavenward. “I guess I’m alone.”

“I wouldn’t say that.” said a deep voice.

She gasped as she turned around and saw the man she had seen earlier.

She looked hesitantly away as she stepped away from him. “What are you doing here?’

Jarod walked closer to her as he smiled smugly down at her. “You shouldn’t be surprised I found you Miss Parker. You know me well enough to know I’m capable of doing anything. Even finding you.”

She looked curiously up at him. “Who’s Miss Parker?”

Jarod looked at her in shock as he looked more closely at her. His eyes widened as the realization hit him. “You don’t remember do you?”

Her eyes narrowed at him as she put her hands on her waist. “No I don’t and you better tell me what you want from me.” She gasped as another thought crept into her mind. “If your here to kill me you better think again you wacko!”

Jarod smiled down at her as he tried to reassure her. “I’m not here to hurt you Miss Parker. I’m here to try and bring you back were you think you belong.”

She looked suspiciously up at him. “What do you mean were I think I belong?”

He sighed as he ran a hand through his hair. “It’s a long story I think we should get going because you are still in danger.”

She shook her head sideways and stepped away. “I can’t! Why should I? Besides I can’t leave Allen!”

Jarod’s head snapped back at her as he his eyes darkened. “Who’s Allen?”

She stepped closer to the window and looked out at the darkening sky. “Allen is the one who saved me and has been helping me ever since.”

Jarod looked at his watch and saw it was already seven o’clock. He sighed as he looked back at her.

Kate looked hesitantly back at him. “If your not here to kill me then why are you here?”

Jarod paused as he thought about an answer. “You were missing for a week and so I was sent to look for you.”

She looked at him and knew he wasn’t totally truthful with her.

Jarod looked curiously at her. “You don’t remember anything at all?”

She thought back to her dreams. “I remember chasing after you.” She paused as she looked back at him. “Why am I chasing you?”

Jarod sighed as he debated whether to tell her. He knew she would regain her memory but he hesitated and took a deep breath as he stepped closer to her. “Your job is too chase after me and to bring me back to the Centre so you could get your fathers approval and your freedom!”, he coldly whispered.

She gasped as she stepped away and looked shockingly up at him. “I ----- DON’T BELIEVE YOU! YOUR LYING!!”

Jarod stopped as he watched her horrified expression. He let his cold demeanor drop as he looked worriedly at her. He put his hand on top of her shoulders to comfort her. “I’m not lying Miss Parker it’s all true.”

She shook her head wildly and shrugged him off. “Why should I believe you!”

He sighed as he looked at her. “Because we have known each other for a long time and I know you better than you know yourself.” He looked away as he leaned on the wall. “Even though you would deny it. In your heart you know I’m telling you the truth.”

She looked up at him and then her mind flashed to the young boy in her dream. She gasped as she looked back at him. “Your the boy in my dream aren’t you?”

Jarod nodded and looked curiously at her. “Yes and you were the only one who was ever a true friend to me and kind to me.”

She gasped at the look on his face which seemed so earnest and sincere and thought back to the image. “Why--Why did things change between us?”

Jarod’s face turned to pure anger as he looked straight back at her. “Because you believed your father’s lies about me.”

She looked sadly up at him and could sense his deep anger towards her.

Jarod sighed and looked out at the night sky. “We can’t wait for your friend for long. It’s getting late and we can’t let whoever wants you dead to realize your still alive.”

She crossed her arms and began to pace back and forth.

While Jarod looked at her more closely. He was very surprised that she was alive, but relieved. Jarod was shocked at the clothes she was wearing. Jarod never imagined Miss Parker to be the type of person to wear anything casual. He looked away from her shorts and looked at his watch. “It’s up to you Miss Parker. But if you stay you’ll put Allen in danger too.”

Her eyes widened in shock as she looked at him. “You don’t mean that they would hurt him? But---But Allen doesn’t have anything to do with this mess!”

Jarod sighed as he reached out and slowly tipped her face to look up at him. “The Centre won’t care.”

She nodded in understanding as she quickly ran into her room and took out a piece of paper and pen and scribbled on the sheet of paper. She put the note down on
Allen’s desk and looked sadly at Jarod. “I was hoping to see Allen before we left.” She paused as she took a deep long breath. “It’s too bad I won’t be able to say good-bye.”

Jarod looked down at her and gave her a warm smile. “He’ll understand.” She nodded as they walked outside.

“So you were going to leave me without saying good-bye!”, snapped Allen who was covered in the darkness. Then a click of a gun was heard as Allen came into view. “You should know better than that Kate. You haven’t introduced me to your new friend.”

Jarod turned around as the light of the moon showed his face. Allen stepped closer to them both, his gun pointed straight at Jarod.

Kate gasped as she saw the cold angry look on Allen’s face. She walked in front of Jarod and put her hand out towards Allen.

“What are you doing? Put that gun down. He’s trying to help me don’t you see that!”

Allen still held the gun pointed at Jarod and looked coldly down at her. “Your wrong Kate he’s the one whose trying to hurt you. Don’t you see what he’s trying to do. He wants to take you away from me. He want’s to hurt you! I’m the one whose trying to protect you not him. Now walk over to me!”

She slowly closed her eyes as she felt so much confusion! She looked into Allen’s angry eyes as they stared past her towards Jarod.

She slowly looked behind her and saw Jarod looking darkly back at Allen. Then he turned his gaze at her and looked earnest and solemnly back at her. “Follow your heart Miss Parker. You know I’m telling you the truth.”

She felt deep sadness well up inside of her as she looked back at Allen and her eyes illuminated what she was feeling.

While Allen’s’ eyes looked angerly at her as he walked closer to her. “From the look on your face you’ve already made your decision.” His face turned to rage as he grabbed her arm and roughly pulled her towards him. “It’s too bad you don’t really have a choice in the matter Kate.” She looked at him with shock as she felt betrayed.

Jarod started to walk closer but was stopped as Allen held the gun pointed at him. “Not so fast! You aren’t going anywhere! Your going back to the Centre were you belong!”

Kate gasped as she felt her world crumbling down. She looked up at him with hurtful tears running down her face. “You----You work for the Centre!”

He looked sadly down at her. “Yes I do Kate. Don’t worry once Jarod is gone. We will go on with your treatment.”

“Treatment?”, Jarod growled as he looked angerly at Allen.

“Yes, you see when I return you to the Centre. Kate will come back to me. I’ll have to make sure she doesn’t remember any of this.”

Kate looked brokenly up at him as she felt total betrayal and anger build up inside of her. The anger seemed to form inside of her like no other kind of feeling she had ever felt before, it was even past the feeling of rage! Her head rose slowly as she looked coldly up at him. “Are you telling me you were the one who caused my amnesia.”

Allen sighed as he sadly looked at her. “Yes I did.”

She looked away as she felt all the rage well up inside of her. “How?”, she brokenly whispered. Allen looked apologetically down at her.

“It’s the pills. But Kate you must believe me when I tell you that I’m not to blame. He ordered me to do it.”

Her eyes narrowed at him as she slowly growled. “Who?”

Allen looked away from her and straight at Jarod. “I can’t tell you.” She looked defeated and sad on the outside. But inside the rage was building to the point were she couldn’t stand it anymore! Allen didn’t notice as he began to pull her away with him.

“Let’s go Kate.”

”MY NAME IS MISS PARKER!!”, she shouted as she elbowed Allen on the ribs and knocked his gun away from him. She then punched him on the jaw and gave him a quick karate kick on the groin as Allen cried out and fell to the ground.

Jarod flinched on that last move as he slowly walked over to her. “Are you all right?’

She looked down at Allen and then turned away in anger. “No I’m not! How would you feel if the person you cared about and trusted had betrayed you!”

Jarod sighed and put his hands on her shoulder. “I know how that betrayal feels Miss Parker. I’ve felt it twice!”

She couldn’t look at him and shook away from his grasp.

Jarod looked curiously at her. “Did you get your memory back.”

She looked back at Allen and then back at him. “Not all of it. It’s like I found a part of me once my anger took control of me, but there are parts of my memory that feel like a blur.” She began to walk away. “Let’s go, before I actually kill the bastard!”

Jarod sighed and nodded in understanding. As they were walking they heard a sound of a helicopter and looked up to see bright search lights scanning the dark sky. Jarod and Miss Parker looked at the helicopter in alarm and ducked into the bushes to hide from the search lights. The helicopter’s lights shined on Allen’s still form and then it began to land by the small opening not far from the cabin.

“Let’s get out of here before they find us!”, Miss Parker whispered Jarod looked at her and silently nodded in agreement but he stopped as he looked back at the dark figure who was slowly walking towards Allen’s still form. Jarod stood deadly still as he looked at the man, whose face was shown brightly by the helicopter’s search lights.

Miss Parker followed Jarod’s gaze and then did a double take and gasped. “Oh my god!”

“Tell me I’m dreaming again!”, Miss Parker whispered. Jarod shook his head sideways as he kept his gaze on the form who was looking around the dark woods. Both of them ducked as the man’s gaze passed them.

“But he looks exactly like you!”, she rasped out.

The man’s eyes were cold and unfeeling while his face was set in stone with no emotion showing on his face. The light showed him wearing black gloves, a dark jacket over a black shirt and dark pants.

Jarod’s gaze turned angerly towards Miss Parker. “What’s going on Miss Parker. Is this some kind of joke!”

Her eyes widened in shock as she looked darkly back at him. “How the hell am I supposed to know. I still don’t have all of my memory back yet. I feel like I have big black holes in my mind!”

Jarod closed his eyes as he felt his anger leave him and looked back at the man who was now accompanied by three sweepers.

“I have a brother.”, he whispered.

Those words sparked another memory in Miss Parker’s mind. She gasped as she remembered seeing herself giving birth to two children.

“Miss Parker are you all right?’

Her flashback ended as she looked back at him. “I have a brother too. Don’t I?”

Jarod looked down at her and whispered, “Yes.”

She looked hopefully up at him. “Is he looking for me too?”

Jarod sighed as he looked sadly down at her. “I’m afraid not. You see--” He stopped as he looked back to hear Allen Foster cry out.

“Devon you have to believe me! They just left a little while ago. They couldn’t have gone far!”

“Devon!”, both Jarod and Miss Parker whispered in shock.

Devon took a fist full of Allen’s shirt as he brought him up to face his cold impassive stare. “You fool! You let her get away!”

Jarod gasped as he heard his own voice sounding deadly calm.

“It’s not my fault! Jarod found Miss Parker and she’s gone off with him!”

“What?!”, Devon whispered as he pushed Allen away and looked back to the man with blond hair and gray eyes. “Byron take Frank and search the area.” Byron nodded and looked back at Allen. “What about him?”

Devon paused as he whispered to Byron and then walked slowly towards the cabin. Allen looked confused and then his eyes widened in fear as Byron raised his gun at him. Allen cried out as he was shot twice through the heart.

Both Jarod and Miss Parker gasped and then ducked. “Let’s get out of here before those sweepers find us.”

Jarod nodded his head since he was too shocked to say anything and Miss Parker followed him as they sneaked away.

“Where are we going?”

Jarod looked ahead as he remembered the road were his car was parked.

“My car is just a few yards ahead.” She nodded in understanding as they ran into the forest

Devon walked around the cabin as he tried to examine it for any clues. He walked inside the first bedroom and saw a picture of Miss Parker and Allen together. He’s eyes darkened as he looked at Miss Parker’s smiling face.

He picked up the photo and traced her face lightly with his fingertips. A clearing of a throat was heard as Devon slowly turned back to Byron. “Did you find anything?”

Byron shook his head sideways and looked out through the window. “No we haven’t. Maybe the doctor was lying.”

Devon slammed the photo down and looked back at Byron.

“He’s not lying. They’re close by.” He saw the note on the table and picked it up.

His head snapped back at Byron as he crumpled the note. “Their thirty minutes ahead of us. Let’s go.” Byron followed as they walked out of the cabin.

Devon’s cellular phone rang as he picked it up. “Devon.” He paused as his eyes darkened but his face stayed impassive.

Byron couldn’t believe how easy it was for Devon to hide his emotions so easily. Devon paused as he stopped walking and looked back at Allen’s form. “Jarod is here and I’m having Byron and the sweeper team looking for both of them. The doctor let them get away.” He paused and looked around the woods. “I took care of him.”

Devon hung up the phone and looked coldly back at Byron. “I want you to keep searching the ground area for Jarod and Parker. They have a mile head start. “ Devon paused as he thought back to the map he had seen earlier.

“Start you search to the nearest road and head north east. Take the doctors car while I take the chopper and scan the area. I want Jarod back at the Centre and Parker brought to me, Understood.” Byron nodded and signaled the sweeper team to come with him. Devon lips thinned into a cold smile and slowly walked towards the awaiting helicopter.

Jarod gave a sigh of relief as he saw his car at the bottom of the hill. Miss Parker stopped running as another image came into mind. She gasped as she saw a woman who looked exactly like her dying in the elevator.

Jarod sensed her shock and looked curiously up at her. “What’s wrong?”

She felt tears forming behind her eyes.

“My---my mother! She--- died in an elevator didn’t she?” Jarod looked sadly down at her and slowly walked over to her.

“Yes she died a long time ago.”

She hugged herself as she looked up at the bright moon. “So that wasn’t me who was being shot at it was her.”

Jarod shook his head up and down and patted her shoulder. “You look exactly like her. You were probably so confused you thought it was you instead of her.”

She felt empty inside as she thought about her. “I feel so alone!”, she whispered.

Jarod paused as he was only a step away from her. “Your not alone.”

She looked up at him and then away as she felt strange feeling inside the pit of her stomach.

A gun shot rang out as Jarod looked past her to find a car speeding there way. He grabbed Miss Parker’s arm as they ran towards the car. As Jarod speeded away he looked back and saw the car behind him coming closer. Then another shot rang out and a popping sound was heard.

Jarod held on to the wheel and tried to control the car as much as he could.

Miss Parker’s eyes widened in fear as she remembered driving down a similar road at night and swerving out of control! Then the realization came to her that someone wanted her dead. That accident she was in was no accident at all!

She cried out this time as another shot came close to her head. Jarod swore in anger as he looked around for an avenue of escape. He took drastic action and hoped he knew what he was doing as he took a sharp turn into the woods. Miss Parker looked back at him with anger in her eyes. “What the hell are you doing?”

Jarod stopped the car as he got out. “We’ll have to loose them in the woods. The car has a flat tire and we can’t possibly get away from them.” Jarod grabbed his bag-pack and looked back at Miss Parker who looked confused. “We have to move!”

She looked back to the car and then followed Jarod into the woods. Then they heard the rustle of leaves and foot steps coming closer. “Why are they trying to kill us?”

Jarod briefly looked back and then turned to look back at her. “I don’t know, but I have a feeling they want me alive but I’m not sure why they want you.”

“Great!”, she snapped.

Jarod came to a sudden stop and swore in anger. Miss Parker bumped into him full force and looked curiously at his back. “What’s wrong?’ Jarod stood away as he let her see. She slowly looked down as she faced a waterfall that lay bellow them. She gasped and looked back to were the strange sounds of footsteps were coming closer.

‘What do we do now?”

Jarod looked down at the water fall and took off his back pack. “We have to jump.” She scowled back at him.

“Over my dead body!” Jarod looked back at the approaching sweeper team.

“You may get your wish unless you jump with me now!”

She shook her head sideways and began to step away from him. Jarod looked up as he saw the sweepers approaching.

“Ladies first!”, Jarod said as he grabbed her arm and pushed her over the waterfall, while Miss Parker screamed out his name in anger. Then he jumped off right after her

Byron looked down as he saw Jarod and Miss Parker disappearing into the waterfall and swore in anger. He turned around and looked back at Frank and the other sweepers. “Let’s go! We have to follow this river.” They ran back to the car to follow.

The chopper scanned down the waterfall for any sign of life. Devon took out his phone and dialed Byron’s number. “Keep searching the river and if you don’t find them meet me back at town.” Then he hung up and signaled the pilot to go back.

Devon looked down at the dark forest with cold hard anger that showed in his dark eyes. “You won’t get away from me that easily Jarod. I won’t let you or Parker get away.”, he whispered.

Broots rushed inside as he saw Sydney trying to read a book. Sydney slammed the book down as he looked up at Broots. “Where you able to find anything in Raine’s office?” Broots shook his head sideways as he looked sadly back at Sydney.

“He doesn’t know were Miss Parker is either.” Sydney ran a frustrated hand through his hair and looked sadly away.

Broots looked hesitant at first as he walked closer to Sydney and whispered, “Did you notice that something else is going on?” Sydney looked curiously back at Broots. “No. What is it?”

Broots leaned closer as he looked around Sydney’s office. “They’re moving some furniture into SL-5. It’s an old office next to Miss Parker’s.”

Sydney looked curiously back at him and then stood up. “I think we should have a look.”

Broots looked fearful and sighed in defeat. “But why Syd, this doesn’t feel right. It felt exactly like that time Lyle moved into the Centre. “

“That’s more of a reason to find out what is going on. Come on.” Sydney said as he walked out of his office.

A scared Broots walked slowly after him, hoping he would be able to live to see his daughters graduation!

A soaked Miss Parker swam to the shallow end of the river bank and stood up as she walked over to shore. She looked back as she heard Jarod following her. She turned away as she put her hands on her waist. While Jarod hesitated as he saw the look of rage on her face. He then stood up and walked farther away from her. Miss Parker looked around the woods and then back at him.

“What now fearless leader!”

Jarod sighed as he stood on the shore and opened his bag-pack. “We head to the nearest town and then I leave you to call the Centre.”

Miss Parker shivered as she felt her shirt and shorts cling to her wet skin. Even in the warm summer night air she still felt cold. She rubbed her arms as she walked a step closer to Jarod. “Do you know what direction we take?”

Jarod paused as he looked back at his compass and then turned to look his right. We go straight that way and we’ll hit town.”

She nodded in understanding and looked back up the river. “You don’t think they’ll follow us do you?”

Jarod shook his head as he looked around the woods. “Yes they will. We have to keep moving and make sure we don’t leave any tracks for them to find.”

She nodded her head as she walked another step closer just inches away from Jarod. “What time is it now?”

Jarod looked at his watch and then gasped as he was pushed back into the water. Jarod swam back up to see, Miss Parker looking at him with a dark angry look on her face.

“Don’t you ever pull that kind of stunt again! Or I’ll shoot you next time!”

Jarod shook the water away from his head as he coughed out some water and merely smiled back.

“It looks like you’re getting you old self back. By the way it’s seven thirty.”

She growled in frustration as she turned and began to walk to her left.

Jarod got out of the water and ran after her. “You can’t go that way. The sweepers are in that direction.”

She ignored him as she kept on walking. Jarod grabbed her arm and turned her around to face him.

“Let go of my arm or you’ll regret it!”, she coldly whispered.

Jarod looked darkly back at her as he kept his grip on her arm. “I am not going to let you get yourself killed, just so you could make a point.”

Her eyes narrowed as she tried to break free from his grip. Then she kicked out towards his groin but Jarod dogged away and brought her down on the ground and put his body weight on top of hers. “Miss Parker we don’t have time for this. We have to keep going.”

She was too shocked to say anything because of the reaction she had from his body lying on top of hers. She bit her lip as she held back a the groan that was dying to come out. She looked away as she closed her eyes and rasped out. “Fine just get off me you jack ass!”

Jarod got up and took her hand to help her up. She felt like hitting him again but knew he would be ready and she didn’t feel like repeating the incident that just happened. She turned away as she tried to hide the memory of his hard muscular body on top of hers. “Let’s go!”, she snapped as she walked to her right.

Jarod sighed as he prayed for the patience to deal with her. Then he grabbed his bag-pack and followed.

Byron picked up his cellular phone as he heard Devon ask. “Have you found them yet?” Byron sighed as he scanned the dark woods. ”There has been no sign of them.”

“Then I want you to come back to town.” Byron’s eyes widened as he looked down at the waterfall. “You don’t think they’d survived that waterfall do you?”

“Jarod and Parker are still alive. They will head back to Town so we will be waiting for them.” Byron paused as he looked back at the waterfall. “Do you want me to call for more sweepers?”

“Don’t be a fool! Jarod will suspect that many sweepers to be there. I don’t want him to see any around understood!”

Byron sighed as he looked back at the woods. “Understood.” But the line was already dead.

Sydney walked slowly towards the office. “Are you sure you want to go in there Syd?” Sydney paused as he looked back at Broots. “I want to find out who’s moving in?”

Sydney slowly knocked on the door and heard no answer.

Broot’s eyes widened in shock as he saw Sydney slowly open the door. “Syd what are you doing? Are you crazy!”

Sydney paused and put his finger to his mouth to silence Broots. Then he stepped inside the office as Broots reluctantly followed. Broots looked worriedly back at Sydney as he closed the door.

“Please Syd, lets get out here. These place is too dark and it gives me the creeps!”

Sydney ignored him as he tried to find light switch and then he found it. When the lights turned on the room looked bear with only a large mahogany desk and chair that went with it.

“Oh my good.”, whispered Broots. Sydney followed Broot’s gaze to a painting that was up on the wall. It was off Miss Parker, she had on a white dress and her hair was swept up as brown curls were let down on either side of her face. She had a lovely smile on her face.

“Who?.....Why...”, Broots stuttered as he looked more closely at the picture. “Miss Parker looks so happy. It doesn’t seem like her.”

Sydney looked seriously up at the painting. “That’s because it’s not her.” Broots looked curiously back at him and then his eyes widened in shock. “You mean?”

“I’m afraid so. Whoever owns this painting has a fascination with Mrs. Parker and I am afraid of what this means.” Sydney looked away and walked over to the large mahogany desk and tried to open the drawer but couldn’t since it was locked.

“This is way too creepy Syd, I think Miss Parker’s missing because of the psycho who owns this office.”

Syd sighed as he looked back at Broots. “I’m afraid your right but what I want to know is why?”

Sydney had to agree except this person didn’t leave any clues as to his or her personality. They froze in alarm as they heard someone coming. Broots looked fearfully back at Sydney. “Syd someone’s coming.”

Sydney turned off the lights as they rushed behind the desk. They both sighed in relief as they heard the person pass by the office. “Let’s get out of here Syd before someone finds us!” Sydney nodded in agreement as they both sneaked away.

Later both agreed that they would need to do some more investigating on who owned the new office.

Jarod stopped as he looked up to find a cave at the top of the hill. He sighed in relief and looked back to see Miss Parker lagging behind. “I found a cave just up ahead. I think we should stop for the night.”

She nodded in agreement as she felt grateful to be stopping after a two mile hike. “Why didn’t you bother to tell me that we were so far from town.”

Jarod looked back at her as he stopped just at the mouth of the cave. “I thought you knew since you’ve been here for a week.” She looked darkly back at him then looked up at the dark sky.

“I didn’t know! That creep Allen never let me go out to town with him. He told me it was close by and there was nothing there except a store to get supplies. So I stayed at the cabin!” She paused as she her eyes darkened in anger. “Seems like this isn’t the only thing he lied to me about.”, she bitterly whispered.

Jarod sensed her sadness and felt an overwhelming urge to comfort her but knew she would push him away. He sighed as he looked down at her and then walked inside of the cave to look around. He took off his bag-pack and searched for his flashlight.

Miss Parker looked back as she saw the flashlight. “It looks like you came prepared.”

Jarod sighed as he looked at his bag-pack. “No. Not really I only have a few snacks, a flashlight and a map.”

She began to rub her arms as she began to shiver from the cool night air. “You don’t happen to know how to start a fire?”

Jarod smiled as he turned the flashlight on. “It so happens that I do. I used to be a camp leader.” He looked back at Miss Parker. “I need to get some wood so we should be able to find some. Let’s go.”

Her eyes narrowed as she looked back at him. “Are you crazy. I’m not going anywhere. You brought me to this hell hole! You do it.”

Jarod’s eyes darkened in annoyance as he looked back at her. “Let me put it this way Parker. If you don’t help me then I’ll leave you and you can find your way home.”

She growled in anger as she looked back at him and then began to walk with him. When they returned Jarod was able to start a fire as Miss Parker tried to warm herself by it.

Jarod looked back at her and saw her teeth were chattering. Jarod felt very cold himself, and his clothes weren’t’ helping him. His black T-shirt still clung to his skin and so did his gray pants.

Miss Parker tried to hold back the shivers and chattering but couldn’t because the cold night air was too great to ignore.

Jarod sighed as he hoped she would listen to what he was going to suggest next. “I think it’s better for both of us if we take off our wet clothes. It’ll get worse if we don’t get rid of these clothes now!”

“Look Tarzan! I’m not planning to take anything off!”

Jarod merely shrugged his shoulders as he stood up. “Fine you can freeze to death but I won’t.” He began to unzip his pants as Miss Parker looked alarmingly away.

“Are you crazy! This isn’t a Motel you moron! “ Jarod ignored her as he took of his pants and then slipped his shirt off and only left his boxers on. Miss Parker closed her eyes as she told herself not to look.

She could feel her resolve slipping away as she began to wonder in her mind. Jarod looked amusingly down at her reaction. Then he walked closer to her as he whispered close to her ear. “Your turn.”

She gasped in surprise as she turned around. Her eyes widened as she looked at his smooth brown chest and then she turned angerly up at his face. “Don’t ever do that to me again!”

Jarod merely looked innocently down at her, enjoying her obvious discomfort at the whole situation. If he had known that undressing in front of her would unnerve her so easily he would have done it sooner.

“Well?”, he asked.

She narrowed her eyes at him in anger as she crossed her arms and looked away. “I said no. Now leave me alone!”

Jarod merely shrugged as he walked away. “Fine but if you freeze to death don’t blame me.”

Miss Parker sat down by the fire across from him and tried to warm herself by the fire. But it didn’t help, and after almost a half an hour of silence between them she slowly stood up and looked darkly back at Jarod.

“Fine. But you better not try anything cave boy!” Jarod merely nodded his head and looked down to hide his smile. Miss Parker looked away as she walked to the furthest darkest part of the cave and began to undress.

Jarod kept his head away as she undressed and he began to wonder what was taking her so long. He slowly looked back and could only see a shadow of her form in the darker side of the cave.

She paused as she was about to step out of the light. Then shook the strange feeling away and held her head high and walked into the light.

Jarod felt like the wind had been knocked out of him as he saw her slim form. The light showed she only wore her bra and panties but the underwear was useless when you could clearly see through them.

Jarod drunk the site of her with his eyes as his gaze slowly traveled up her form. Then he realized he hadn’t breathed yet and took in some needed air.

She didn’t notice his dark stare as she quickly walked to the fire and sat down across from him. She brought her legs up as she put her arms around them to cover the upper half of her body for warmth. Jarod did the same and tried to keep looking at the fire instead of Miss Parker.

“Why did my mother die?”

Jarod looked up at her and then away. “She tried to save me and the other children of the Centre.”

She thought about the memory and then her blue eyes darkened. “Did I find out who did it?’

Jarod closed his eyes as he looked away. “You think my father shot her!”

She gasped as she looked up at him with shock written on her face. “Your father?”

Jarod looked darkly back at her. “Yes, but I’m trying to find out if it’s true. The Centre has lied to us before and I have my doubts about this so called truth!”

She bit her lip and began to get a craving for something. She groaned out loud as she tried to figure out what it was.

Jarod looked at her with concern in his eyes. “What is it?”

She looked curiously up at him. “I have a craving for something but I don’t know what it is. Do you know?”

Jarod merely smiled as he grabbed his bag-pack. “It’s probably food. Here have some Oreo cookies their great!”

She took some and ate them but still felt unsatisfied.

She yawned as she felt very sleepy and began to lie down on the ground.

Jarod took his bag-pack and slowly walked over to her. “Here use this as a pillow.”

She let him tuck the bag-pack bellow her head as she lied back down. She sighed as she felt her eye lids grow heavy.

“Thanks.”, she whispered. She had a strange feeling this word never came easily to her judging by the strange look on Jarod’s face.

Jarod paused in shock at what she had said and then smiled down at her. “Your welcome.”, he whispered. Then he saw her close her eyes to sleep.

She could see herself walking towards the elevator. Then she saw him coming out of the shadows with his hand raised holding his gun in his hand. She tried to cry out to her mother, to warn her but couldn’t as she saw her being shot at. Her mother cried out. ”No ......Leave me alone!”

Miss Parker heard herself crying out as she saw her mother dead in the elevator.

Then the dream flashed as she found herself floating over the man who had killed her mother. Miss Parker’s gaze was transfixed at the man in the dark suit. His face was hidden in the darkness. But not his voice as he spoke in a quite and smooth tone. “You should have never interfered my dear.” Then he paused as someone else came up to him.

Miss Parker knew who it was and she gasped in anger. “What do you want to do with her now?” The man who shot her mother whispered. “Leave her in the elevator and make it look like suicide I must return to the San Francisco base.” Then the figure began to disappear. Miss Parker cried out in anger as she felt the injustice and hatred consume her.

Then she heard another voice. ”MISS PARKER....WAKE UP! WAKE UP!”

She cried out as she sat up and saw Jarod looking worriedly down at her.

“It’s all right it was just a bad dream!” She felt the hot tears falling down her face. She looked away as she tried to wipe them away. “It’s all right now.”

She looked sadly up at him with anger in her blue eyes. She stood up as she faced Jarod and as he saw the look of rage on her face he knew she had regained her memory.

Jarod stood silently still as he watched her. She tried to push the image of her mother away but it kept coming back to her mind, as she saw her mother being shot at. Then the man who had shot her and then the man who stood next to him. She closed her eyes in pain as she groaned out loud. Jarod pushed back his hesitation as he slowly began to embrace her.

“Don’t touch me!”, she growled out loud as she jumped away from him. “All my life has ever been is hell. Ever since your father shot my mother. I saw it in my dream and I know it was true.” She stopped as she felt the overwhelming emotion of anger and rage engulfing her again. She felt the tears starting to form as she tried to blink them back. She looked savagely up at Jarod and began to beat his chest with her fists. “I HATE YOUR WHOLE FAMILY! I HATE RAINES! AND MOST OF ALL I HATE YOU!!”

Jarod stood still as she let her anger out.

Miss Parker felt hot tears running down her face as she looked away and began to run away but she felt a steel grip on her arm. “Let me go!”

Jarod shook his head sideways. “I won’t let you go Miss Parker. I can’t let you go in a blind rage. You could get hurt and Ican’t let that happen.”

She turned back to look coldly back at him as she was finally able to control her angry emotions. “Drop the good samaritan act Jarod. Your only using me to get information like you have always done. Your nothing but a liar!”

Jarod’s eyes narrowed as they darkened. “I never lied to you Miss Parker. I always told you the truth!”

She tried to brake away but Jarod held on to her. She kicked out and tried to claw at him but he didn’t let her go. Instead they fell on the ground together. She felt the warmth of his body and tried to fight as hard as she could but after a few minutes she grew very tired, emotionally as well as physically.

“Why can’t you just leave me alone Jarod.”, she whispered. “Why do you have to interfere in my life! Because of you I’ve questioned everything in my life and I hate you for it! I HATE YOU!”

Jarod’s eyes darkened as he had the overwhelming urge to say what he felt but held back. His embrace grew tighter as his gaze roamed over her face. “You know the answer to that Parker. You were my childhood friend. I would never try to intentionally hurt you.”

She looked coldly up at him and could read something in the dark eyes that he was offering her but looked away not wanting to read the emotions showing in front of her.

Then the image of the little boy in her past went through her mind. Miss Parker sighed and then looked back at Jarod. She turned away and slowly stood up. Jarod sighed as he felt relief that she hadn’t tried to do bodily harm.

She walked outside the mouth of the cave and looked out at the moon and then back to the fire that Jarod was tending too. She groaned and wished she had a cigarette.

Then she walked back as she silently sat down and tried to go back to sleep. She could see Jarod was doing the same but she could hear him moving around. She sighed knowing he was uncomfortable.

“Oh for crying out loud! Here take the bag-pack. I don’t need it!”

Jarod shook his head sideways and then Miss Parker spoke up before thinking. “Then we’ll share it.”

Jarod’s eyes drew upwards in surprise and she felt like taking back what she had just said. Miss Parker didn’t know why she had suggested such a stupid idea in the first place but decided there was no harm in it. Besides if Jarod moved away she’d be alerted and she wanted to keep an eye on him so she could re-capture him.

Jarod seemed to read her thoughts but held back a chuckle and merely obliged and lied down next to her.

“Don’t try anything monkey boy or you’ll be eating dirt.”

Jarod merely grinned at her and then looked away “Don’t worry Parker I wont.”

Miss Parker turned sideways and tried to go back to sleep. But at first she couldn’t because she felt Jarod’s warmth beside her. After a while she sighed as she felt fatigue overcome her.

Jarod sensed her body start to limp as she began to fall asleep. He could hear her breathing even-out as she fell asleep.

He sighed quietly as he thought about what she had said to him. He looked sadly up at the ceiling of the cave wishing there was an easier way to deal with Miss Parker. In a way he was responsible for having her question her father. Jarod looked calmly at Miss Parker’s form and his face changed as it darkened. But he didn’t regret his decision, he knew the only way to free Miss Parker from the Centre was to make her realize the lies that she had been fed all her life! Even if it hurt her, he knew had too let her see the truth. He remembered her angry words that rang in his ears. ‘Why can’t you just leave me alone Jarod!’

He closed his eyes as he felt that strong emotional bond he had with her. Jarod’s dark look changed to a deep longing that he knew he could never get rid off. He knew deep in his heart that he could never leave her alone. She was as much a part of his past as he was to hers. He sighed as he felt tired and felt his eye lids grow heavier as he finally went to sleep.

Jarod instantly awoke as he felt a soft warm body lying on top of his. He was alarmed at first and then remembered it was Miss Parker. He was more than alarmed as the realization hit him.

He stayed still as he felt her snuggle her head on his shoulder comfortably lying there. Jarod swallowed a moan that was dying to come out. He bit his lip and tried to calm his raging hormones that were flying out of control. He felt her body move more deeply closer to his and could feel every curve of her body pressed to his own. Then he felt Miss Parker’s leg move as it bushed his thigh and his manhood.

Jarod couldn’t hold back as he slowly groaned out loud and looked back to find Parker still sleeping. He closed his eyes as he began to feel his body reacting to hers. He tried to concentrate on falling back to sleep, but his eyes snapped open as he felt sleep eluding him.

He felt total agony at his predicament and when he looked at Miss Parker’s face he groaned because his face was just a few inches away from hers. Jarod’s eyes darkened in desire as his face moved closer to hers. But his head moved so his lips touched her forehead in a brief soft kiss. Then he looked away as he tried to count sheep.

The phone began to ring as Mr. Parker answered. “Parker?” “Just thought you should know that today is the day that my son will be taking over the re-capturing of Jarod.”

Mr. Parker’s eyes darkened in fear. “You said two days and we still have one more day left.” The man in the other line gave a humorless chuckle.

“I was able to get the members of the Triumvirate to change there minds.” Then the line went dead.

Mr. Parker growled in anger as he slammed the phone down. He stood up from his chair and looked out from his window. “You have to fight princess! Don’t let Devon win!”, he whispered.

Miss Parker slowly opened her eyes as she moved her head up. Her eyes widened in shock as she looked at Jarod’s sleeping face. She swallowed the cry of surprise as she realized that half of her body was lying on top of his.

She closed her eyes as she could feel her fingertips on his warm chest and her ribs on his muscular waist. She gasped as she felt his manhood through his boxers, under her leg and looked alarmingly back to find Jarod still sleeping.

She could feel the rhythm of his heartbeat as it slowly beat under her ear and sighed as she felt the warmth and safety of his arms. She calmed her beating heart and slowly began to move her body away from his.

A sleeping Jarod sensed her movement and groaned out loud as he tightened his hold on her causing her to move all of her body on top of his.

She gritted her teeth and felt like screaming at him but held back knowing he would wake up and find her in this predicament.

Jarod had already woken up but didn’t feel like letting go of the pretend. Besides he felt like paying her back for last night, since she didn’t let him get any sleep. Jarod held back a chuckle as he felt her obvious discomfort and could feel her slowly moving her leg away.

That’s when Jarod felt her leg moving and felt his manhood react. Jarod groaned out loud and Miss Parker looked darkly back at him.

“Let me go you big Neanderthal!”, she snapped as she pushed him away from her and stood up.

Jarod opened his eyes as he also stood up and looked amusingly down at her. “Are you this cranky, when you get up in the morning?”

She ed her clothes and walked out and paused as she looked back.

“Only when I’m being pawed at by some half-wit moron! Who tried to make me think he was still sleeping!” She turned away as she went outside to get dressed.

Jarod sighed as he took his clothes and also got dressed. When he stepped outside he saw Miss Parker walking away from the cave. Jarod cried out for her to hold on and ran to the cave as he ed his bag-pack and ran to catch up with her.

She looked angerly back at him. “Why can’t you just leave me alone! You already saved my life!”

Jarod walked in front of her causing her to stop dead in her tracks. “I have to make sure you are back at the Centre safe and sound.”

She looked away as she ran a frustrated hand through her hair. “Why? Why would you care what happens to me?”

Jarod straightened away as he tried to look at her but she kept her face averted. He briefly closed his eyes and then looked calmly back at her. “Because I just do.”

She looked angerly back at him. “You don’t give a damn about me Jarod. You only want information on your past. So don’t give me that crap! I’m not stupid enough to believe that garbage!”

He sighed as he watched her angry face turn to an impassive cold stare as she walked past him.

“Believe whatever you want Parker you’ve always been blind when it comes to the truth!”

She ignored his comment as she looked back at him and asked. “So which direction do we take next Cave boy?” Jarod shook his head sideways and then walked ahead of her as she followed in silence.

She felt a sense of sadness starting to build in her heart and wondered if she had been better off having amnesia. It felt better than having this sense of loneliness and loss. She swallowed the lump of emotions that seemed to threaten to come out and looked angerly at Jarod’s back. She hated him for having to find her and hated him worse for making her feel all these emotions.

Jarod sensed her dark stare and sighed as he wished this animosity she had towards him would end. He looked sadly back at her and knew that wish may never come true.

Broots rushed into Sydney’s office. “Syd. Jarod found her!”

Sydney stood up as he looked hopefully down at Broots. “Well were is she?”

“Weston, Vermont. Jarod sent me an email yesterday but I didn’t check my email until just now.”

“What about the owner of new office?

Broots sighed “I couldn’t find anything. It’s like the information is locked up tight somewhere were no one is supposed to look. It reminds me too much of Mr. Lyle which gives me the creeps!”

Sydney sighed and pushed the thought away as he grabbed his jacket and looked back at Broots. “Let’s go. We need to let Mr. Parker know we found her and then we have to get to Weston.”

Broots nodded in agreement and followed Sydney out of his office.

Weston Vermont

Jarod and Miss Parker looked down from the hill and saw the little town of Weston. “Finally! Were here!”

Jarod stayed silently in his place as he scanned the town.

Miss Parker looked back at him as she saw him hesitate. “What’s wrong? I’d thought you’d be glad to finally get here. Unless you like being shot at and go around at night half naked.”

Jarod shook his head sideways. “It’s not that I just think we should stay alert.”

Miss Parker’s eyes widened in shock as she looked back at him. “You don’t think those sweepers are still following us do you?”

Jarod sighed as he began walking. “Yes I still think they are.”

Miss Parker rolled her eyes and walked ahead of him. “I doubt it. Besides as soon as I get to a pay phone my team will be here A/S/A/P!”

Jarod chuckled and walked faster as he walked ahead of her. “And I’ll be gone before you know it!”, he said as he gave her a mischievous smile.

Miss Parker’s eyes narrowed as she whispered, “We’ll see about that!” Both of them walked down the hilly slope below.

Devon’s eyes narrowed as he watched Jarod and Parker walking down the hill and into town. Devon’s signaled Byron and his other sweepers to wait. “I’ve got you now!”, he growled.

Jarod and Miss Parker stepped into the small town. Both of them looked uneasily around but saw nothing that was suspicious. Jarod’s eyes narrowed as he surveyed the area and still felt uneasy. He still had the feeling that he was being watched. Even if the town seemed to be filled with people walking in the street. As they turned into a semi abandoned street, both of them felt the uneasiness growing inside of them.

Miss Parker felt apprehensive and knew they were being watched. She could feel someone’s gaze on her face. As she looked around she didn’t see anyone that looked like a sweeper and unconsciously stepped closer to Jarod. He looked down at her hesitant form and knew she was feeling the same way he was, but before he could comfort her.

He felt a hand gripping his arm as he looked behind him. Jarod’s eyes widened in shock as he saw his own face staring coldly back at him.

Before he could do anything, he felt a sharp pain on his head as he felt darkness overcome him. The last thing Jarod heard was Miss Parker voice crying out his name.

“Jarod!” Miss Parker screamed out as she was forcefully held back, before she could run towards him. She looked angerly up and gasped as she saw Devon.

“You!” She angerly seethed as she looked furiously up at him.

Devon merely looked calmly back at her angry stare. “It’s a pleasure to finally meet face to face Miss Parker.”

Her eyes narrowed at him. “I can’t say the same for you. You snake in the grass!”

Devon merely stared coldly back at her and looked down at Jarod’s crumpled form on the pavement. “Take him back to the Centre and then have the chopper come back for us.” He ordered as Byron nodded his head. While the rest of the sweepers picked Jarod up and began to walk towards the helicopter.

Only one sweeper was left holding on to Miss Parker. Devon turned his cool gaze back to her and silently examined her features as he slowly walked towards her.

“You look exactly like your mother.” He paused as he stood just inches away from her. His eyes darkened in what seemed to her to be anger. But his face looked expressionless, while his eyes brows narrowed. “You should have taken Dr. Fosters advice! Too bad you didn’t. Now I’m afraid I’ll have to take care of you myself.”

Miss Parker looked coldly back at him with rage in her eyes. “You were the one! The one who wanted me to have amnesia. But Why?!”

Devon looked away from her and motioned the sweeper to take Parker. Then Devon looked darkly back at her. “It doesn’t matter. What matters now is to make sure that the problem gets terminated.”

Her eyes widened as the realization hit her. “YOU----You were the one who gave me that DSA Disk. But---But Why?”

Devon merely gave her a humorless smile. “Think Parker!”

Her blue eyes shot angry sparks back at him as she figured it out. “You bastard you set me up! Didn’t you? You want me out of the picture so you could take over the capturing of Jarod. You had to plant it there so the Triumvirate would have a reason to terminate me!” She looked shockingly up at him. “But why the Amnesia. If you wanted me dead why try to give me Amnesia?”

As the sweeper began to push her forward she forcibly kicked the sweeper but was quickly kicked herself as Devon twisted both her arms and handcuffed them together.

Devon sighed as he and looked searchingly into her own eyes. “Because when I made this deal I asked for you in return for your so called death!”

She felt like hitting him as she felt the rage and anger consuming her. “THERE IS NO WAY I AM EVER GOING TO BE YOURS! YOU GOT THAT FREAK!”

Devon gave a humorless chuckle as he grabbed her arm and pulled her body close to his. “On the contrary my dear. You will be mine. Everyone will think your dead and I plan to finish what Foster started.”

Miss Parker’s eyes widened in shock at his words and began to feel a tingle of fear at the base of her spine.

Jarod began to regain conciseness but held back as he remembered what had happened. He evened out his breathing and slowly opned his eyes.

He knew that they were already up in the air as he looked around and saw two sweepers and the pilot. Jarod couldn’t find Miss Parker and knew that she had to be back in town with Devon.

Jarod quickly thought about a plan as his mind raced for an answer. He was grateful that the sweeper still thought he was still unconscious and was doubly grateful that only his hands were tied behind his back.

He moved his arms slowly as he tried the same trick Miss Parker had done with her wrists. He held back a gasp of pain as he dislocated his wrist and was able to be free of the ropes.

Jarod looked back and closed his eyes as the sweeper looked back at him and then looked away. Jarod peaked though his eye lashes and then knowing he wasn’t being watched he slowly stood up and began to advance on the unsuspecting group.

Byron turned around but before he could shout out the warning to Frank. Jarod quickly took the gun from the Frank’s gun holster and turned it toward Byron. “Tell your pilot to land right now!” Byron looked angerly up at him and kept silent.

“Do it!”, Jarod growled as he un-cocked the safety.

Byron looked back at the pilot and ordered him to land. Then he looked darkly back at Jarod. “Next time Jarod you won’t get away.”

“There won’t be a next time.”, snapped Jarod. Once the helicopter landed Jarod pushed Byron and the other’s out and then took off heading back to town.

Devon signaled the sweeper to leave the room and looked back at Miss Parker’s angry form. She was hand cuffed to the bed and began to struggle as he slowly approached her.

“You won’t get away with this you psycho! No matter what you give me I won’t forget my past!” Devon merely looked down at her as he began to take out the needle from the gray case he had on the table.

Devon merely looked back at her as his face stayed expressionless but his eyes darkened more as he approached her. “We’ll see about that. Now be a good girl and don’t resist. It’ll be better this way.”

She tried to twist her arm away but was held down by Devon’s grip on her arm. Her face looked alarmingly up at him. “Why do you want to do this?”, she whispered as she stared coldly up at him.

Devon’s eyes showed some kind of emotion but he quickly hid it away as he looked coldly back at her. “Because I want to posses you and I won’t let Jarod take you away from me.”

She gasped as she looked up at him in disbelief. “I don’t know what kind of sick game you think your playing but I won’t be anyone’s possession. Not Jarod’s and especially not yours!”

Devon merely chuckled as he injected her with the needle. Miss Parker gasped and began screaming insults at Devon. Miss Parker gasped as she felt a sudden sense of fatigue. “Why do I feel so sleepy?”

Devon merely put the needle away and sat down beside her. “That’s the drug taking affect. Don’t fight it Parker. Just give in to the inevitable.”

She looked away as she tried to get a hold of her memories that seemed to be slipping from her mind. She looked dazedly up at Devon and before loosing consciousness she whispered. “Jarod!”

Devon’s eyes showed deep anger and rage at hearing her call his name. He slowly leaned closer to her face as he softly stroked her cheek.

“That’s the last time you ever mention that name Parker. You’ll never see or remember Jarod again.”

“Then we have a problem!”, growled the angry voice from behind Devon.

He turned around and faced Jarod. Devon merely looked calmly back at him and took out his hand gun. “I don’t think so Jarod. I won’t fail like the others have in the past.”

Jarod looked sadly at his own reflection as he tried to reason with him.

“Why are you working for them?”, he whispered then his gaze turned to Miss Parker. “Why are you doing this to her?!”

Devon was silent as he walked slowly towards Jarod. “You don’t want to know. Now give up unless you rather go back the Centre the hard way. Which will make my day. I’ve been waiting a long time to do this.”

Before Jarod could ask, he gasped in pain as Devon gave him a quick punch in the jaw. Jarod looked darkly back at his own face that was smiling maliciously back at him.

“I won’t fight you Devon. Please can’t we become friends. Let Miss Parker go and I’ll come back with you to the Centre.”

Devon huffed and looked amusingly back at Jarod. “You think I’d give up Parker so you could make me think your going back. Think again!” Devon gave Jarod a quick judo kick at his ribs and swept Jarods legs right out from under him.

Then Jarod re-bounded back by grabbing Devon’s legs and pulling him off balance. Jarod kicked the gun away from him and punched him on his face. Devon went down and then took out a smaller gun that was hidden behind his dark jacket. “It’s good thing I don’t play fair.”

Jarod put his hands up as he looked darkly back at Devon. “I want to be your friend. Can’t you see the Centre is using you just like they are using Miss Parker.”
