This first chapter is so fast paces that I can't help but want to read more about who are these two characters and what's in store for us. Luckily we won't have to wait much longer for the whole adventure and find out how these characters tie with the one's we already know and love.

I enjoyed reading the first chapter sample. The language was sparse but evocative and the story was well-paced. Kaj and O'Quinn are definitely growing me as characters. Something that will take some getting used to is the writing style. Maybe it retains the tone of the TV series, maybe it's because Steve and Craig are first and foremost scriptwriters, but I didn't care for the use of sound effects eg. BOOM! Instead, I prefer a description of the action taking place. That's my only qualm with this piece. All in all, I can't wait to read Rebirth. Bring on October 7!

Wow!
What a beginning!
I have to say that I didn't "like" the first few paragraphs. I don't know why not but maybe it was because I had expected something else (someone else???) and I got the feeling I was missing something (like the real begin of the story?) but then suddenly I was hooked again. *grin*
I really like the description of everything and the "feeling" in this. I'm still not sure who is who and on which side I should be (yes, I have a very dark mind and I can imagin O'Quinn is the good guy who does everything for a good reason - though I think I would love to see Kaj as the hero too...).
A very good start for something we all waited way too long for!

This is certainly an exciting and intruiging start! How convenient that there are no hints about Miss Parker or Jarod, guess I am going to have to buy the book after all! Only a few more sleeps before we can find out all the secrets you have in store for us!

The first chapter of Rebirth is absolute perfection- a thrilling mix of action and an introduction to some new faces in the Pretender universe. The interactions between Kaj, O'Quinn, DF, and Dog are so natural it's hard not to feel the mental defeat of torture, the adrenaline of the chase, and the excitement of their bold personalities directly facing off. If this is indicative of what is to come, we Pretender fans are in for a treat... and quite a roller coaster ride! I am eagerly anticipating the release of Rebirth- October 7th couldn't come fast enough!
