He looked around to make sure that everything was all right before she came home. He knew that she had a tough day today and he wanted to do something nice for her. Putting the last piece in place he disappeared when he heard the key in the lock because he didn’t want to be here when she arrived.

She drove up to her house and stopped the car. Taking a deep breath she got out of the car after taking the seat belt off locked the door and walked up to the house. She slid the key into the lock and opened the door. She closed the door behind her and then looked around. She blinked as she found what was amiss in her house. On the table was a rose with a note leaning against the vase and a present near the note. Beside the present was a long stem glass filled with champagne and a sliced strawberry on the bottom. She walked up to the table sipping the champagne and then put it down. She read the note and then opened the present. She took out the framed photograph and a tear slipped down her face.

“I know today was a hard day for you and I wanted to do something nice for you. I wanted to see your reaction before I came in.”

“How did you know I needed this?”

“Do you really have to ask?” He smiled at her.

“No, I guess not. I’m an open book to you and the same for you.”

“Here sit down and I’ll massage your back for you.”

“Alright.” She said as she sat on one of the chairs.

“Thank you.”

“You’re Welcome.”

Jarod grabbed her hand and kissed it. Miss Parker looked into his chocolate brown eyes and saw the love that he had for her. It was unbelievable that he would love her so much. They had gotten married a year after the Centre had closed down. They had some rough times, but they had ridden it out. In the end it was all worth it. He had yet to find his parents and she knew that that hurt him that he hasn’t found a missing piece of his past. One time when they were holding hands and walking down the street and he saw a black town car he stopped and tensed. She had seen the fear in his eyes as the door opened and a gray haired woman get out of the car. He had said that he was sorry for doing that and he didn’t mean it, but she knew that he still was scared of the Centre even though it was closed down. She would sometimes hear his nightmares and see him wake up scared and frightened. She would always calm him down, but knew that there were some demons in his sleep that wouldn’t let him rest. They were coming less and less often and for that she was glad.

She did know that he loved her and she loved him. It had taken some time to come to the moment where she had declared her love for him, but he persisted and for that she was grateful. She loved him the first time that she had seen him behind the glass and she knew that she would love him always and forever no matter what.

The End.
