He sees the changes. His student, his protégé; le chameleon.
Jarod’s spirit is dying, stifled by years of oppression.
In the back of his mind, Sydney is a young boy with a number on his arm, who knows only pain and fear.
He puts that little boy down, locks him in boxes and doesn’t let himself hear the muffled cries.
Every day, he descends into the lab. Every day he asks Jarod if he is ready to work.
Every day, he sees the light in the young man’s eyes get a little dimmer.
He sees no end in sight, but prays for forgiveness.
